So watching some episodes of this on Amazon Prime and absolutely cracking up.
Every episode plays out the same way: "Eyewitnesses" tell their stories of which there's no actual evidence and it's usually decades later, the show presents folklore of the area which to be fair is actually interesting usually but ya know folklore.
Then they have a game and fish officer or actual scientist on to talk about actual animals in the area and what could logically account for sightings. After that 'wildlife experts'&'renowned cryptozoologists' are trotted out offering theories pulled straight out of their ass and contradicting the real scientists---one example had a woman who said she hit a big dark shape in rural Minnesota. Game and Fish guy looked at the truck and went: "It was a bear. Every year in this area, dozens of bears are hit by cars. The damage to the vehicle is consistent with a bear. It was a bear." Crypto guy comes on and goes "No, see what I see would be explained by a primate like hand or something similar. From what we know about Sasquatch when they're hit by a car they do that." And on with that kind of stuff.
They gather 'evidence', usually vague hair or scratch marks and interview more eyewitnesses with nothing at all to back up claims
Then by the end of the episode the evidence either is completely inconclusive or it's like hair from a cat or something. Meanwhile the show treats both the actual scientists and the crypto guys with the same level of credibility and acts like 'oh whatever is out there remains elusive'. So basically ever episode ends with them not finding shit but remaining adamant.
Throughout each episode the narrator uses scary language and they do reenactments with danger music and spooky lighting and usually a few times have a CGI monster with graphics on the level of Reptile from the Mortal Kombat movie shown in the woods.
In short, this damn show is a hoot.
Like I said, the folklore/mythology of an area and just what people made up story wise is always interesting&everything else is good for a belly laugh or two.
Monsterquest: tune in for the folklore, stay for the hilarious bullshittery.
