WWE is so scripted from promos to the in-ring work, that nothing feels natural anymore. Compared that to the 90's and 80's where guys who make mistakes all the time, it just feels SO different.
There is no adapting to the crowd anymore. If the crowd is crapping all over something, everyone just continues as if nothing is happening. It feels so inauthentic. Mistakes make the product come across as genuine and make live TV feel more captivating.

What do you mean by "mistakes?" Botches? There's still botches.

The show is designed to perform for the hard cam, nothing more. The crowd is just there to make the arena look good on TV. Boo, cheer, sit on your ass, they don’t care. Nothing a video package can’t clean up in post.

What do you mean by "mistakes?" Botches? There's still botches. I think they mean more along the lines of recognizing something went wrong and play of it.Not ignore that as if never happened. Like when Rey messed up a spot and just had to repeat it,I assume.Or a story goes wrong, they just ignore the storyline mistake as if nothing happened.

Kind of semi related but I miss those little short undercard matches from the attitude era that used to feel like fights, the guys didn’t do many moves, it was just strikes and basic manevours but everything looked like it hurt.

WWE these days is less made with the intention of anyone actually watching it from start to finish and more entirely so they can edit it down into Youtube clips and recap videos.

I don't see a lot of repeated spots, and they DO cover mistakes... it's not like if someone botches, someone yells cut and everyone gets back into the original place and they just start over. I really don't understand this whole thing.

If OP is alluding to a lack of spontaneity, I completely agree.
