I’ll say one thing... Cinematic matches are not a concept that works with four or five ad breaks in it. As for where it leaves the players... It seems obvious that Ciampa and Kross will collide rather than later, while Gargano and LeRae are off to try their luck on RAW or SmackDown probably. Even the Matt Hardy Deletion matches from before had like only one commercial break in it. And of course, the WrestleMania 36 cinematic matches had no breaks (mainly due to being on PPV).

Gargano and Ciampa is just a feud where the writing bottomed out because it went on far too long and had far too many twists and turns in an attempt to be compelling but it just made everything so convoluted
NXT's bit weakness that they've shown is writing longevity whether it is writing a character for a long period of time like over a year, or writing a really long feud. Mainly because NXT used to just be a holdover brand to develop talent to be called up to WWE. But then NXT became a third brand while also still trying to be developmental, so some guys aren't being called out, maybe for a long time, while WWE is STILL SIGNING wrestlers that are expected to eventually get TV time and pushes.
It just feels like something has got to give at some point with this, the roster bloat isn't helping things but overall, NXT has amazing quality matches and can have amazing writing, but this is where things are falling apart, and them trying to write a 2 hour show is exposing holes as opposed to their one hour episodes and tapings before.

Saw about five minutes of it. There was a nauseating amount of camera cuts, and Gargano dazedly putting his hand on Ciampa's while both stare off shell-shocked was so overwrought that if it had come from any other wrestlers I would've thought it was a parody. I have zero desire to see the rest, especially since the ending is inspiring "the heel is really the face!" defenses.

See this is where the cinematic matches thing falls apart for me. Like, it works for characters like Taker, Fiend, Broken Matt..guys with supernatural powers or some spookiness to them. Like it doesn't just work with regular plain old guys like Gargano fighting another plain old guy like Ciampa.
Also I've been saying NXT can work with dudes being there forever, but reheating the same fued over and over again with the same guys? Awful.

Love those blowoff matches where the babyface loses. Main roster booking plagues NXT. Sadly, it was going to happen eventually. I just hope when the Coronavirus calms down, WWE does something about the overcrowded roster, since smaller televised promotions and indies could use the wrestlers that WWE has no long-term plans for.

I will watch this NXT show over the weekend so I can't comment on the Gargano/Ciampa match. But the idea of NXT roster bloat and guys hanging around forever is something I've feared for a while now. First, the big dilemma is the disconnect between what Vince wants and who HHH and the WWE office is actually signing. That's how you get guys like Tomasso and Gargano hanging around NXT for years on end, because even they know they have zero hope of getting over on the main roster because Vince will just bury them. Thus the question to me becomes why are they signing guys that Vince won't get or won't like? We can talk about Vince being nuts or whatever, but it's also kind of insane to go around signing people that won't have any main roster future.
Add to this the idea of putting NXT on USA. Now you have a scenario where the NXT roster has to stay locked in place a lot more and guys end up hanging around there even more, when in the past the virtue of NXT is that people would hang around for a while, win a title, then get the call up. It kept the show fresh.

Those Gargano matches are my least favorite in wrestling. Self indulgence at best. Atleast the feud is over (or is it?) Ciampa will shine in main roster though

The groaning and heavy panting made it a bit tough to watch for me. It was distracting.

About Gargano/Ciampa: That match was a lot of unintentional hilarity. When they move on from NXT, they need to be on separate brands. Sadly, it was going to happen eventually. Positive: Loved the ending Negative: No background music and too many camera cuts

Only real negative was all the billion camera cuts , other than that IMO this looked as close to LU as WWE could have gotten because this looked like a movie fight and better than both funhouse and boneyard matches.
And also I loved that it was a very ugly fight in the sense that there were nothing used to spruse it up just two guys who hate one another beating everything out of each other untill their was nothing left.

Really in general I pretty much just consider this an all-time terrible storyline. At a point it was great but any semblance of logic behind it evaporated a long time ago and it's done a lot to kill my interest in both performers, especially Gargano. Granted what killed my interest in him just as much is it becoming more and more and more apparent that he has one style of match and it's, "Kick out of a million finishers and then stare at my hands."

How does this shit end (?) with freaking Ciampa as the babyface?!
Been misstep after misstep since Johnny kamikazed off the stage.

Got round to seeing it (so meh) - it was what I expected, bucket loads of corny acting and dialogue, and WAY TOO LONG. Oh let's go and fight on top of a truck then climb back down!!!
Glad this is over, and they can both move on to other programs. Wonder which way Killer Kross goes, you could justify him going against either man.

Killer Kross destroys what's left of Ciampa on a future NXT episode. Liv Morgan returns to NXT and does the Sin Cara pointing spot with Scarlett Bordeaux.

I don’t think the main problem with this was necessarily who was involved (not saying it wasn’t either though) but just how badly put together and Ill thought out it all was.

That is what I loved about how they "debuted" Kross...and this all feels very creatively from the mind of the Kross himself , being subtle playing the horror movie waiting game. He could have went to pick the bones of Ciampa...hence the vulture imagery He could go after Johnny and Candace....possibly at the behest of Scarlett who sees alot more "fun" in going after the couple
