Just something I been thinking about, but how this going to effect nXt UK and the nXt expansion plans? Remember Balor saying that Walter's NXT-UK title was "on borrowed time"? I have a feeling he wasn't just saying that about Walter's hold on the title. There's a real possibility that WWE's gonna take a very hard look at NXT:UK and, quite possibly, NXT itself.

There is a lot of talent who were doing nothing before this all happened and have even less to do now, so unless they are getting paid peanuts they are probably gonna get released. It sucks because they can’t really go anywhere else till this all blows over and who knows when that will happen.

The Revival are the door opening for guys and girls who want a release, but also might be the thing that bursts the dam for talent cuts... so the next few weeks are gonna be very interesting.
I also have to think the XFL Folding is factoring into this, losing Mania and that in the span of a month has to have dealt a decent blow to McMahon both financially and ego wise...

Anyone who's not TV-ready at this point, but still punching the clock at the PC, may want to keep their resumes polished just in case. The higher-profile stars on NXT:UK will be absorbed into main NXT, but I can see most others having their contracts bought out and released. I think that the cruiserweight division is on the chopping block; some who can gain a few pounds and slip into the midcard will be okay, but most are gone, I think. NXT Japan will likely die on the drawing board, at least until WWE is back on its feet.

There are plenty of places to find work for anyone leaving the WWE, but in this current climate, how many companies are going to be fast to spend money on new talent? What can independent wrestlers do to find work/stay relevant going forward? That's the thing; it's going to be a buyer's market for promoters... if shows actually exist. But I got a feeling we may see around 40-50 Performance Center/NXT Florida releases with a few main roster cuts.

There was a story a couple of weeks ago about Vince doing a deal with a bank to get a cash infusion into WWE, with the idea that WWE would pay back the loan over a time period agreed upon with the bank; otherwise, should the loan not be paid off, the bank would assume some level of ownership over the company.
This isn't to say WWE is at major risk of that happening, mind you; during such uncertain times it likely made financial sense to do. But it does lend credence to the notion that there might be some pretty big changes to the way WWE's been doing business the past few years, for sure; part of ensuring the loan getting paid off will likely be cutting back on expenditures, and contracts and big deals being given out like candy on Halloween has absolutely driven WWE's spending up to pretty damn high levels in recent years. Something's going to give.

As desperate as the business may get in the coming months, I feel like this could become a boom for pro-wrestling's presence on the Internet. Some companies are reactively trying to boost interest in their brands, like ROH whom is putting up a lot of free content through their YouTube channel. Now could be a good time for the ambitious to promote their own product using the influences like Being the Elite and Matt Hardy to build, and keep fan's interest, so that when shows resume, there is a demand to see said product live.

Not knowing how big business is done, how would that work if McMahon isn't the sole owner of the company? He is the majority stock holder, he'd only be able to use his stock as collateral for the loan, but if the stock drops (more) then company assets would have to be seized? Unless he had something other than the WWE to use as collateral for the loan... like property... Edit: stupid me for not thinking that the WWE as a corporate entity could be applying for the loan instead of McMahon.

Others aren't willing to move or have visa issues. Plus they were never hired with the main objective of being US talent. NXT UK main deal is to sign indie talent and keep the UK scene down. And on this case worked Hoarding US talent?Worked much less well.

Yep. I imagine this is all factoring into the decisions. Fact of the matter is, Vince can't have everything he wants, especially not right now. He just took the two biggest gut punches he could possibly take, no live Mania, and the XFL died immediately. Neither of which were in his control, but still, it's basically worst case scenario for him. He fired two of his most experienced corporate heads when they told him hoarding talent was a bad idea and I think they brought up the XFL question as well to him and now... well... here we are just a few months later and everything has in fact fell down around Vince. Hoarding talent isn't a feasible option anymore, if people want out, now is the time, and it might not even be their choice eventually if the purge happens.

WWE could generate a lot of good will by allowing released stars to own their names/gimmicks as severance bonuses.

Honestly you gotta feel bad for someone like Mike Kanellis who was begging for a release but now if they do he won't even have anywhere to go since all the indies are closed and AEW will be keeping their pockets shut til things calm down. The worst part is WWE would probably sell it as he wanted a release and now he's unemployed with no options.
And that may be the reality for people who didn't even want releases in the near future.

At this point, I wouldn't consider anyone being let go from the most money they're ever likely to make as having been liberated. Regardless of how they're used (or not) on TV.
It's a good thing this happened for the industry at a point where the WWE's roster is as big as it is. The more wrestlers making a steady income the better, and hopefully the WWE make it through without having to cut too many.
