www.wrestling-online.com/wwe/new-nxt-episodes-to-have-7-day-delay-before-hitting-wwe-network/Surprised they didn't make that move earlier to be fair, it's clear that a lot of people were just waiting for it to be up the next day so that they could watch Dynamite. Now they'll have to fire up the VCR. UPDATE: Turns out this is just for the UK, as BT Sport have something in place that delays the upload onto the Network. Everyone else gets it on Thursday nights as usual.

If they'd done this from the start of the USA deal, many wouldn't have liked it but they'd understand it. Doing it now only reeks of it being a panic move because they've been behind in the ratings for the vast majority of Dynamite's run so far.

Unless this is not going into effect until this coming week, this delay might just be for the UK.
For a few weeks now, UK users have been noticing they've not been getting the episode on demand as quickly as usual. U.S. subscribers have still been getting NXT on the Network on Thursday nights. The April 8 episode is up right now, at least in the U.S.

So what’s going to happen with Takeovers?
Are we going to have the Network Special air on the network, before the Go-Home Show?
Because as someone who lives in Australia and works Monday to Friday, that might be it for me...

Hmmmm. Well as I don't have BT Sport here in the UK I guess I won't be watching NXT from now on then?

This is really misleading. This is specifically for the UK and doesn't have anything to do with Dynamite.

Admittedly I've not been subscribed to the Network, and I don't watch NXT, so in fairness what I'm about to say is purely academic, but... this sucks.
I know it's always been the case that they've delayed RAW and Smackdown to avoid clashing with TV networks, but the promise of the WWE Network is that it's all right there, your one-stop shop for all things WWE (more or less, RAW/SD excepted, as was always the case). If you don't happen to have the correct TV package, or watch TV at all, it makes it difficult to follow anything in a timely fashion. Obviously that's because the TV networks are paying for WWE's content and they want to make you sign up for TV service, but for a lot of younger people that's just not gonna happen. The more stuff they put on delayed release, the less attractive (and functional, if you want to follow the weekly TV shows) the Network looks as a forward-looking distribution model.
I've said the same about the RAW/SD delays too, and like I say, I get why they do it, but it puts a big dent in what could otherwise be an almost perfectly comprehensive streaming service (some missing shows and episodes from the olden days notwithstanding). Feels arbitrarily incomplete when it needn't be, they're kneecapping it on purpose.

This is really misleading. This is specifically for the UK and doesn't have anything to do with Dynamite. Yeah I just clicked the link and it says it's for the benefit of BT and doesn't mention Dynamite at all now so I guess maybe the writer changed it after realising it was a UK thing. Still sucks for people without BT Sport though.

Yeah I don't watch NXT live but usually on the weekends when I have a chance. Hence the WWE Network is a good way to do that. I don't even want to acknowledge this NXT on USA nonsense. AEW on Wed. nights all the way for me.

At this point I don't even know why WWE's actually trying with this stupid AEW war anymore. They're set for the next three to four years and have consistently brought in crowds. You failed to cut them off at the knees, it's too late to really do anything about them, just give it up.

Would have been nice if they had announced this earlier and maybe not do this during the Lockdown.

IMO, just another way to devalue the network.

Not sure if this begins next week or if it's only NXT UK because I watched this week's episode of NXT on Friday night, 2 days after it aired on USA.

Now would be an incredibly bad time to be doing that. They might not have the numbers they want, but the $10s per month from a million and a half people is nothing to sniff at when your TV deals might be at risk and you don't know if you can keep producing your regular weekly TV shows or even do megabucks shows for Saudi Arabia.
Money is money, discouraging people from directly giving you a $10/month sub by devaluing the service means potentially up to $15-20m thrown away when they all leave because the thing sucks now. You sure as hell want to be keeping paying fans on your side in times of uncertainty, if you don't keep offering value, they might decide they need that $10 for something more important, or a rival service with more variety of content.
Keeping TV networks sweet is one thing, but that's a single point of failure. If BT Sport were to decide they want out, that's your TV network gone, you lose millions in one shot (and I don't think Sky is going to be battering down the door to get you back). The WWE Network might dwindle, but as long as you keep it attractive you've still got at least hundreds of thousands of revenue streams trickling in to make a fairly steady river of cash, even if you account for churn. A thousand people deciding not to keep subscribing is a lot less painful than a multi-million dollar TV deal getting punted out the window due to breach of contract by failing to supply content you don't know for an absolute fact you can provide right now.

I really can't imagine this would even actually accomplish much. I have a hard time seeing someone being patient enough to wait a day on watching NXT but not being patient enough to wait a week. You'll probably be spoiled by the time you watch it regardless.

Hmm. That's me done with the network once I finish off the last few retro shows on my watchlist.
