Dr. Frank was the very first "monster" that Lawler created/booked for the Memphis promotion in 1977. Watching this video of Jim Blake discussing his time in the role, something seems off. He talks about how there was a bomb scare that day in the studio, and had to shoot the sequence without fans present. Except you can clearly hear the fans during every bit of the footage they play here. So what's the deal? Blake misremembering? Confusing it with another incident?

I have no insight to really add but if there were a bomb scare, would the bomb squad really let them continue filming while they scanned the building???

I thought the story was that he had to wait in a box while everyone vacated the building, with no one telling him, not that they filmed it like that. They filmed it after everyone had been let back in, but he hadn't been told anything was up until afterwards.

Blake notes that there's no crowd during the actual segment, not just him being stuck in the box beforehand, as well.

I hoped and wished this was about the Revenge character. But this is somehow more interesting.

He was in the box that Batman heard about.
Hogan got 300-500 pound hosses. Lawler got horror movie characters.

Well, I just happened to bring up a 2-year-old Jim Cornette Drive-Thru video question pertaining to Herb Abrams and there was an early digression about this: as Cornette told it, the bomb threat came *during* the show, but WMC decided not to empower the threat by taking the show off the air. They emptied the studio of fans and while police searched the premesis, Lawler and Lance killed 15 minutes with a long promo, all while Dr. Frank had to stay in the box. So it's possible that Jim Blake is less confused than we thought--that there was in fact a bomb threat but by the time he came out, the fans had been let back in.

Imagine waiting in there and finding out after police were searching for a flipping bomb!
