On the male side atleast. Us early 90s baby’s are turning 30 in the next few years and there seems to be not too many on the main roster. (Not too sure about NXT). I remember there being a lot of 80s born wrestlers in the 2000s, some of whom gained prominence. Taker has been around for almost 30 years and he hasn’t faced anyone born after he debuted which is insane. Is pro wrestling just a old persons game?

And nobody from the 90s have won a major Midcard or world title yet on the main.

Keep in mind that a lot of those guys were being brought in straight from "true" developmental where they were hired at a young age, trained 2-3 years and then brought into the main roster. Since NXT became more of a "indy stars showcase," they've reverted to hiring guys who have already spent 5-10 years working the indies and elsewhere. So even the ones that only worked outside the WWE for the lower side of that timeframe, once they're hired, they still get 2-3 years in NXT before going to the main roster. Another thing to keep in mind is that Vince has soured on using workers who are "too young/immature" because of situations like Paige and a few others that gave him the impression they just weren't ready yet.

Beat me to it: the WWF's roster in the 80s/early 90s was pretty old due to the practice of bringing in a lot of established top guys throughout the territories, and making NXT into a "super indy" style show has meant bringing in people who've put in a lot of years on the road. Kind of felt over the past few years like WWE is becoming the last stop for a lot of folks who've been in the industry for awhile and want their last big pay day or to check it off their career bucket list: AJ, Joe, KUSHIDA, Shinsuke, lots of current NXT, most of them came in at their mid-30s or later.

Looking at this list...puts things into perspective I'm a '89 baby so seeing that Tucker is over a year younger then me and Otis is close to three is not something I would've expected. Granted I still look a lot younger then both of them but it still put things in perspective as in what the hell have I been doing with my life. Time really flies when you start getting older.

Billie Kay, '89. Peyton Royce and Sasha Banks, '92. Alexa Bliss, '91. Liv Morgan, '94! Those were the first ones in my mind.

I've always noticed that it seems like they hire the women when they're young but don't really hire as many younger guys. Despite making up less of the roster they have almost as many 90's babies then the men, 19 to 16. If the three TV women (Logan, Conti, Purrazzo) cut in the COVID releases were still there it would be even.
Raw Zelina Vega Dec '90 Ruby Riott Jan '91 Peyton Royce Nov '92 Liv Morgan Jun '94
Smackdown Lacey Evans Mar '90 Mandy Rose Jul '90 Alexa Bliss Aug '91 Sasha Banks Jan '92 Sonya Deville Sep '93
NXT Kacy Catanzaro Jan '90 Io Shirai May '90 Chelsea Green Apr '91 Shotzi Blackheart Mar '93 Tegan Nox Nov '94 Ailiyah Nov '94 Rhea Ripley Oct '96

Check the NXT UK roster, most Brits start wrestling early.
Hell, I think Candyfloss barely scrapes in as a 90s kid, which makes ME feel old.

Rhea Rhipley, '96! It's crazy, MJF too. Those darn 2000's comin' to steal that spotlight soon!

I wonder when we’ll see the first signee born in the year 2000 onwards? Millie McKenzie was born in 2000 and did a couple of NXT UK shows in 2018 but didn’t end up signing which admittedly I think is definitely the best move for her career at this stage.

People born in the 80s caught the intersection of two boom periods, the Hogan one when they were very young (target age) and the Austin/NWO one when they were teenagers (target age again) so just stems to reason, the more eyeballs that are on the product, that there will be a greater pool of people to draw from who make the jump from fan to performer.
Folks born in the 90s were mostly too young for the attitude era and there were far less people watching in general in the Cena era so a smaller pool of people to draw from to make said jump makes mathematical sense.

As someone born in January 1985 I feel really old looking at the dates of births of some of the roster. The first mania I recorded by myself was wrestlemania X and some of the wrestlers listed weren't even born yet.

Wwe is still a globally watched brand. The First half of The Cena era had atleast 4 million or so viewers. There will always be people that wanna be pro wrestlers and/or famous in general
