I get what they were aiming for in a kayfabe sense, that Gorilla really hated working with this lying creep. But occasionally you got the sense they had something of a connection during some of those Prime Time segments, even though one was a face and one’s a heel. You got Monsoon yelling at poor Bobby and dragging him out of the building, Bobby looks on the verge of blubbering and he’s pleading while Gorilla just throws his stuff on the parking lot. How was I not supposed to feel bad for the guy?

I don't mind the segment, but I see where you're coming from. This would've worked a lot better a year or more earlier when Heenan was still directly involved with wrestlers. Had Gorilla thrown him out of the WWF by dragging him off the Prime Time set in 1991 or 1992, it would've fit perfectly because Bobby was a still crooked manager making others' lives miserable. By December 1993, he was basically just an off color commentator who had mostly kept to himself.

Who was in late 93 to fire Heenan

He was given AMPLE warning, Monsoon was a man of his word ‘I’ll have you thrown out of here!’ on countless episodes of Wrestling Challenge and PPVs. Knowing what I know now about their offscreen closeness, I watch this with a real sense of affection. I seem to recall that there was more of an emphasis on Gorilla threatening to have Bobby removed in the weeks leading up to Survivor Series 93, and so it came to be. To me, the salute at the end makes it; in kayfabe it looks like Heenan is being sarcastic, when in reality it’s his acknowledgement of his WWF career.

If I recall correctly, in Heenan's book, Bobby took credit for the way he was removed. It was something in the line of that the Brain character couldn't have a dignified exit and kayfabe-wise (and personally) Gorilla would be the best person to get rid of the Brain.

It's a little strange since they had worked so long during many hot periods of wrestling and technically worked well together in kayfabe and yet it took until late 1993 for them to get to a breaking point. The whole "my belongings" thing kind of rings with his last year or so in WWF as he had Ric Flair, Razor Ramon, Mr. Perfect and Lex Luger somewhat in his employ and one guy had to leave WWF and the other three turned face so wouldn't need him anymore kayfabe wise and it seems like he would have lost everything investing into these guys and losing everything only to have a duffle bag, toilet paper and a Raw windbreaker. I wish that we had gotten a final reunion with the two at some point before Gorilla passed but I'm glad they really enjoyed the time they had together even though we never knew until years later.

Pat Patterson said he should have had a suitcase packed with women's clothes. Heenan told that "I think you and I pack differently".

At some point, especially after Flair left, the Monsoon/Heenan dynamic seemed to turn into one guy relentlessly bullying another instead of two guys going back and forth. Once Heenan was completely out of the managing/advising game, it was hard for him to get any more heat like he could when one of his men would win a title or do some despicable act.

Bobby was on Gorilla’s case for weeks prior to Gorilla throwing him out it was almost like a mini storyline

Bobby was on Gorilla’s case for weeks prior to Gorilla throwing him out it was almost like a mini storyline and again it was closure for the amount of times Monsoon continually threatened to do it for years before anyway,

I get why they did it that way, but it’s really sad to me. Maybe if Heenan had been doing an angry flip out it would have been better. As it is, the whimpering and sad “my belongings” stuff is a downer.

You were meant to feel bad for him, I think.
Heenan going out in a blubbering mess was fitting for the character. It was supposed to be pathetic.

It was very jarring to me watching it when it happened. Without the hindsight of knowing Bobby was really leaving, the hindsight of knowing how tight he and Gorilla were behind the scenes and it seemingly coming out of nowhere (I know y'all have said there was some kind of build up to it, but most of us didn't catch anything like that beyond it was just Heenan and Gorilla bickering as usual), I just sat there watching, feeling sorry for Bobby. WITH hindsight, it's a classic moment but man, at the time, it was just confusing and felt very, very off.
