We had a substitute teacher in History class who showed us the Buster Douglas/Mike Tyson fight,,in 1996. Not really a movie, but I found that to be extremely odd (to be fair, he made no secret that he was a boxing fan, but why not show a documentary on Ali, at least that would have had some historical value).

I can't remember when it was exactly, but one time in social studies class in high school (so 2000-ish) we watched this exceedingly creepy film about Sigmund Freud:

We watched eXistenZ in my freshman communications class in college.
I can't remember, for the life of me, how that correlated to what we were learning about.

Women in Love was pretty strange. Sitting in school watching Oliver Reed and Alan Bates wrestling with their wang dang doodles flopping around was a surreal moment.

Apparently Playboy produced a version of Macbeth. We watched that. Well other people did. I slept through it. They also read Macbeth. I still have no idea what it’s about. Out, out damn spot.
That’s all I know.

The first half hour of Godzilla 2000. For what class?? Lmao A summer school teacher showed “Napoleon Dynamite” For English cause he could not give less of a f***. And I’ll never forget: 6th Grade. Computer Lit class. Teacher, bless her heart, decided to show “Hackers”. That scene happens, whole class goes wild, and shit-you-not, the (no-nonsense) Principal walks right in. The color vanished from my poor teachers face. She tried blocking the screen too late, fun times.

I figured we'd finish up the movie the next day, but it was never mentioned again. We also watched The Net in computer class, which is odd as that's more of a "The Internet is dangerous!" film than anything that shows the value of the Internet (granted, this was the mid-90s where most films still portrayed the net as this scary entity than as something useful).

we had a sub for shop class, who really knew nothing of shop class stuff so he brings in the TV for movie time, and the only VHS tape he could find was Mallrats that he rented. so we watched that.

Gattaca for summer school biology. Hell, one time, a girl I know brought Bio-Dome for that class. Yes, BIO-DOME!
As for Gattaca, I really remember VERY little of it. Probably because I wasn't paying much attention to it.

Ralph Bakshi's Fire & Ice. The teacher just assumed that if it's animated, it must be for kids. At least it was that one and not Fritz the Cat or Coonskin.

I went to Catholic High School (a decision I regret with every fiber of my being), so I won't get into the incredibly offensive teenage pregnancy movie they showed us once for board rules. But in the "what does this have to do with anything?" category, one time our Religion class showed us Star Trek: Generations.

It wasn't school per se, more like a work study over the summer combined with school assignments, but...they had us watch Total Recall in one of the "classes."
