Said it when the match was announced last week that this will be the most important match for NXT in awhile and IMO the most important one on the show because it is going to show alot depending on the outcome. If Charlotte wins well you have now pulled the rug out from alot of peoples favourite for a 4th time by jobbing her out to the woman no one wants in NXT at all and now the most praised division in the whole company is now the exact same as every other womens roster in the company a geeks row of women for the horsewomen to trample through and drive away current and potential future viewers. If Io wins NXT will have given the audience what they want by putting the belt on easily your most over female talent in NXT if not overall and showed you are listening to your audience and that will hopefully bring more eyes to the show. It is WWE's booking Vs the audiences desire on this one and every single time WWE pushed against the audience it never ends well for them. Io isn't near the likes of most of the top guys in NXR in terms of overness. She may be most popular woman (I struggle to think of many top women faces at the moment) but not overall of both men and women.

To add onto this, Wrestlenomics compiled a report on the biggest draws for each brand and I hope everyone is ready for a shocker. Charlotte doesn't even register on the list. i.imgur.com/qtQBP1f.pngWould she have even been eligible? This chart is just covering AEW and NXT and since the end of October and its cutoff is three weeks ago; Charlotte would only even be relevant for what, like a combined month of that span of time?

Io is definitely one of the most popular stars in the division right now. I posted a picture a bit earlier, but she draws way more eyes than most of the men. Her segments constantly gain viewers. She started showing up in NXT pretty much a week or two after the Rumble. And Dave admitted on last Sunday's WOR that her match against Mia Yim was one of the lowest rated segments in the 18-49 demo in NXT history. She's not drawing anywhere close to what WWE is expecting her to do. Basically she's the Triple H of the division. Except at least Triple H was sympathetic at times.

I would put while not above the likes of Keith Lee she is up there with the top tier....go back and listen to the reactions she got at both WarGames and SVS easily amongsr the biggest of the whole weekend. And not like that was just a one off weekend she has remained that consistently over if not even more since then...unlike say a Rhea Ripley who was really over during her build to beating Shayna but then reactions dropped off almost immediately after.

I think some here are overthinking this Charlotte/Io match. Charlotte is of course going over clean with the Figure 8. The whole angle is just building to a rematch where Ripley gets the belt back. I'd hardly picket NXT or refuse to watch over that result on Wed.

I'd hardly picket NXT or refuse to watch over that result on Wed. I would. Because Io has worked her f***ing ass off for the past year getting her new character over, just to be fed to Charlotte. There's a reason why Io is pretty much the hottest star in NXT right now outside of maybe Keith Lee. And it's all about to be squandered because god forbid she get rewarded for it. And no, I think it would backfire on Rhea. She was already losing a ton of fan support before she lost the title (the audience was very clearly siding with Io and Bianca over her). Her coming back just to take the title from Charlotte would be a great way to tell the viewers that no one but Rhea matters, don't even bother getting invested in other women. Charlotte being in NXT was a horrendous idea, and now its going to come at the cost of one of their biggest draws in Shirai. Who is massively popular with younger viewers, unlike Charlotte. It's not hard to imagine viewers aren't going to get invested in another Rhea/Charlotte program either as a result. Especially if it comes at the expense of a star who is just as popular, if not moreso than Rhea.

I'll be sure to get some popcorn out to see the meltdown on Wed. over this one. I think deep down we know what's going to happen here. Charlotte is going to get a few defenses with the NXT title before losing it to someone.

It is absoloutley going to back fire on Rhea if this is all for her to swoop in and win back the title and this is based on history very recent history.
Daniel Bryan going into WM30 if one had to pick right off the bat....that audience were not ever going to accept anyone but Daniel Bryan main eventing that Mania and winning the title.
If Io loses....Rhea and any other woman is going to suffer for that choice but the backlash is going to most land on her because she already swooped in and took what was clearly building to Io taking the title from Shayna and now here we find ourselves again.
