So I just watched The Princess Bride again, and after watching it did a little research on it. Apparently when Andre the Giant was first offered the role of Fezzik, he turned it down because the WWF claimed it would interfere with a match Andre was scheduled to have in Tokyo that he would've made $5 million for. Shortly after the match was canceled and Andre took the part. My question is, was there ever actually a scheduled match in Tokyo? Or were Vince and Andre just trying to carny a big payday out of Rob Reiner?

That figure sounds way too high, but it wouldn't surprise me if Vince and Andre tried to make big money out of a match where Andre did the job for Inoki or Baba in Japan. Would've drawn a lot while being so far away that the WWF could have still claimed Andre was undefeated going into WrestleMania III.

Sounds like some Vince chicanery to get a big payday for the movie...as in I’m sure that Vince somehow got a cut too.

Assuming that discussion took place, it was a McMahon con.
Just to put the ridiculousness of that figure into some perspective, that’s five times what he’s said to have earned from Wrestlemania III.
