So... I've been watching wrestling my whole life.
I've had many favorites, from big beefy hosses, to technical workhorses, to tiny high flyers, flyer, & every style in between.
Example, Hogan and Savage are 1A & 1B for me, after that, it's Daniel Bryan, John Cena & Rey Mysterio.
My tastes vary wildly. Even people I find overrated like Shawn Michaels & Owen Hart have entertained me.
Which brings me to Omega. I just... can't. Everytime I watch him, he looks like he's playing wrestler. I never believe in him.
So, what do others see in him? Why is he considered the "Best Bout Machine"?

People have gotten caught up in his "antics" so to say. Like, he doesn't come out overly serious or anything of the sort but when the bell rings that switch flips to a new man and his ring work is beyond top notch
My only criticism of Omega is he spans the V Trigger too much but everything from his selling to how he does moves and the way he moves is at the top of the game. When a wrestler is down, he goes in for the kill, when he's put on his ass, he sells it like he could be the one to lose. His matches are built around the OWE, no one kicks out of it. For a guy that basically doubled his size from when he was a junior, he hasn't lost any of the speed or athleticism.
I wouldn't say he's playing pro wrestler. He is a pro wrestler because once that bell rings he gets lost in the craft

I tried to give him a chance, but something about the way he does things just irks me.
The hands, the facial expressions, the way he talks. I get a really pretensious vibe from him, like he sees himself as this great wrestling artist or something.
I'm sure he is a great dude, and he's very talented. I just don't necessarily get lost in anything he does wrestling-wise.

I was just thinking yesterday that even though there's whole bundle of entertaining wrestlers in AEW - Omega IS the heart and soul of the whole AEW. I remember when there were first announcement of talent in Jacksonville, Jericho being the last one mentioned - I was lil' underwhelmed. - It hit the whole another level, after Omega signing was confirmed.
He's damn charismatic and fun in Being The Elite bits.
In AEW, he's been part of the most exciting brawls vs. Jon Moxley and Joey Janela. And put on excellent 'rasling matches like the Ironman vs. Pac and that Elite tag team match.
So the whole opinion of him just playing wrestler is far out for me, he is as great as Steve Austin or Daniel Bryan.

I have the same view of him as I do AJ Styles bland as a face, great as a heel. But no matter what you can’t take a way how insanely talented they are.
I am in no way an expert but you should check out the following.
vs. Jericho in NJPW.
With Adam Page vs. The Young Bucks from Revolution.
Him vs. a nine year old girl.

I don't buy into any of the best bout machine stuff, but don't totally dislike him and I think his pros and cons are sort of in the same shared spot of a Venn Diagram for me personally.
He actually summed up the reason I'm not as big a fan of him as others himself in a recent interview, where he said something similar to "I don't look to other wrestling for inspiration in my wrestling, just video games, anime, and dramas." If you know my wrestling tastes you know I'm all for galaxy brain stuff (largely joshi and DDT), it might sound weird for me to be put off by this, but for Kenny I think his strengths and weaknesses are rooted in the fact that he is super over-the-top hamfisted in everything.
Where it doesn't land for me is when he thinks it's coming across more dramatic and serious than it does (NJPW promos, facial expressions etc.) When he's self aware and balanced he's actually pretty entertaining. He's a super athlete and his best matches are when he is wrestling like a runaway train (I'm not a big fan of the Okada series but the G1 one is my favorite of them because it takes advantage of that). I guess I prefer DDT Kenny and his AJPW run to NJPW Kenny.

I think his ability to have constant 5 and 6 start matches in the last few years, be extremely funny in Being the Elite, and some great after show promos that bleed relate-ability is what makes me like him. I think Hulk Hogan is the worst wrestler in history, and he's your 1A, and everyone you named is a WWE guy, so Omega might just be something outside of what you've seen through the years. Then again, he rubs a lot people the wrong way, so you can't please everyone. I think I didn't like his haircut when I first saw him in like 2007, but I got over it when he became the Cleaner in the Bullet Club and really won me over with his matches and silliness.

Omega comes across as a caricature of a pro wrestler because that's exactly what his gimmick is. He's the kid who was the champion of the local trampoline wrestling federation because he owned the trampoline except in real life because he's actually that damn good. He's overly emotional and flamboyant to the point of hubris, but skilled enough to make it part of his charm

He's by no means my favorite thing ever but I do definitely enjoy him. He's a hell of a worker and I've seen him put on a lot of amazing matches.
That said I don't really think he's that great as an overall package. Certainly a viable main event player, but I'd never make him the face of the company or anything; he's pretty damn bad on the mic and I feel like he doesn't really do a great job of carrying himself like a big deal.

Dude absolutely killed it in NJPW having some incredible matches with the likes of Okada and Tanahashi. I think he's better as a heel (he is really good at playing a cocky jackass-type especially when he was in Bullet Club), but he works for me as a face, too.
AEW Kenny's persona is a bit different from his time in DDT, NJPW, and ROH, but one thing that doesn't change is that he's an incredible athlete in the ring. He's already been involved with at least two legit MOTY matches for me in this short year.

In my opinion when you watch his matches you know you're guaranteed to be in for something good. He's always entertaining in the ring and has shown that he can do any number of match styles. Character wise I'm a fan. However I can see why many wouldn't be on board as he doesn't give off the 'traditional' main event wrestler vibe.

My legit favorite wrestler in the world. Dude can be intense as hell when he wants. His feuds with Jericho, Moxley, Cody and The Elite have probably been his most substantial stories he's been apart of and knocked it out of the park each time. Hell, half the reason the current Hangman Page story works is his dilemma about where his loyalties lie and his concern for his friend.
I think a lot of people's perceptions of him probably come from his feuds outside of his more serious feuds. In those he leans into his funnier side and I guess me and him share similar humor.
Dude has also been apart of my favorite matches in the last 5-10 years. All his Okada matches, him and Ibushi vs The Bucks, his hardcore match with Mox, him vs Jericho, and with Hangman vs The Bucks. So yeah, I have a personal love for the dude and hope to see him strapped up with the world title some day.

The man took a match with Alan Angels and made it so good that people started paying attention to Alan Angels matches like vs Fenix and Guevara and now everyone wants Alan Angels signed.
If you can't see what he brings to the table after that idk what to tell ya. He elevates talent, he consstently puts on amazing matches, and he is exactly everything he paints himself to be. He's a bit goofy, but every time you step in the ring with Kenny Omega, you know something good is about to happen, even if it's a match with a dude nobody knows, it's going to be a memorable match, and Kenny Omega will do that.
He and Hikaru Shida are the measuring sticks of their respective divisions, bar none.

That's the thing, I've seen the matches. The Okada matches bored me to death, he look completely outclassed compared to Jericho, and he was the least interesting part of the tag match. I just don't get it.

He constantly has the best and most well receivsd matches of AEW and before NJPW. That is the reason he is the best bout machine.
Not only he has amazinf stamina;
He has some of crispiest and best looking moves in the business
A great moveset that flows together.
He loves storhtelling in his matches.

I appreciate he's good, but his character and mannerisms don't really click with me. I don't hate his work but it's not something I feel any pressing desire to go out of my way to watch.
He was doing a good job with Adam Page and I'd take him over the Bucks any day of the week, that's for sure.
Am I the only one who gets a Marty Jannetty vibe from the guy? Not the lack of success and personal problems, but watching him out there, his look and his questionable sartorial choices all all make me think of Marty.

Like I said, he doesn't come across as "real". He feels like an actor. Like, he kinda feels like an E-Fed character or a CAW brought to life.
Gaudy outfits, flashy moveset, the super finisher that no one kicks out of. (Which BTW is a less practical version of the AA).
I believe Daniel Bryan, I believe Kobashi, I believe Misawa, Hogan, Savage, even R-Truth.
Omega just... I don't believe him.
He's athletic, sure, good looking even.
But... he doesn't seem real.

It took a bit for me to warm to him, but I'm a believer these days.
I think a big part of it is, I like that his style is pretty unique. He's got those legs to where he can hit those great knee strikes, and he's got pretty ludicrous endurance, which is something that tends to show itself more in longer matches, or ones with a lot of burst action.
