So I've been rewatching the relaunch of ECW starting with WWE VS ECW Head to Head and I just finished the Hammerstein Ballroom episode of the TV show.
I have to say, I LOVE Big Show as ECW champion. He is absolutely killing it, good matches, good character work, his handling of the Ballroom crowd is fantastic.
Other notes:
I forgot how all in they went on Sabu, he is pushed hard.
Angle is awesome, shame it didn't last longer.
Mike Knox is... ok
Test is amazing, I was always a fan.
RVD... man, weed ain't even that bad. He deserved better. _____________
Well, that's enough from me now... anyone else have WWECW memories?

Once it gave up any semblance of trying to be like the real ECW, it became the best show on WWE TV.

Serious thoughts: I liked Miz and Morrison's segments on the show, especially when they mocked Chavo's theme. Evan Bourne had some exciting offense, and Zack Ryder stealing Dreamer's and Hurricane's nicknames after defeating them was funny. I laughed every time I saw Vince wearing a durag as the ECW World Champion.

Genuinely love the 2nd half of series run, tt was NXT before modern NXT. Great matches between Christian, Ryder, Benjamin, Yoshitatsu and many more. I definitely wanna go back and re-watch some episodes as well

Weird mix of talent made this very interesting time even though anybody who've ever done fantasy booking would've done it better.

I knew ECW was doomed as a classic ECW replacement when I was at one of the earliest tapings and during the RVD/Angle main event, most of the crowd was chanting “WE WANT CENA!”
15 year old me was the Arthur clinched fist meme, feverishly chanting “NO WE DON’T” against the majority.

That's probably the most generous assesment of Mike Knox ever.

In a way, this character gained somewhat of a cult status. Never understood why he wasn't used after that. Then again, I also liked Macho Libre. Really, WWECW started getting better in the late-2000's when it just became its own thing, right until its death in 2010.

Once it stopped trying to be the old ECW, it was pretty much the best WWE programming during the week. It was pretty much developmental!NXT before that was even a thing. I have to say, I LOVE Big Show as ECW champion. He is absolutely killing it, good matches, good character work, his handling of the Ballroom crowd is fantastic. I generally loathe all things Big Show, but he handled that crowd admirably. It's not his fault that WWE were dumb enough to continue that stupid "let's import from other brands to main event" idea in the Ballroom. I think the fact that they even had that idea in the first place showed they had absolutely no faith in anyone on that brand's roster. The show up 'til then was pretty positive (CM Punk's TV debut helped there), so they could've avoided that mess by just throwing on an Original to main with Show. IIRC, they haven't run that venue since. I'm surprised WWE didn't delete this from their channel. Possible language warning for the chants. Since I reference it above and am also surprised WWE didn't off it, here's Punk's debut from the same night. Don't think I have to warn for language, but I'm doing it anyway just in case.

He & Test make a good hoss team He was a servicable hoss at the time, they just never gave him anything that stuck at all His most memroable moment is how unmemorable he is when Shawn Michaels kicks his head off at Survivor Series and goes "Who was that?"/ What a great way to put over talent!

In a way, this character gained somewhat of a cult status. No bullshit, I thought it was Warrior at first. The promo certainly sounded like a more coherent Warrior.

I remember Knox once spiked someone dead with his Sister Abigail (The Knox Out!) and I loved the move ever since.

I think once you accepted this was nothing like the original ECW. It was actually a pretty fun decent little brand.

From when it started till when it ended it was my favorite WWE weekly show. One I made sure to not miss.
I have always thought a 1 hour show was the perfect length for a wrestling program.
There is so many WWECW moments that stick in my memory. But of course the one that I will never forget is RVD vs Hardcore Holly. I am betting I am the biggest Bob Holly fan online. And that match finally got him the attention I had thought he deserved for years.
Christian's run as ECW champ were so good. And it was ECW that helped make John Morrison someone to keep your eye on.
And while I don't care for the guy,WWECW is where so many fans saw CM Punk for the first time. I did enjoy Punk's mini feud with Holly.

I remember be super excited for a Test title run... it never happened.

Some things I liked:
Zack Ryder vs Christian is one of my all time favorite TV matches, just because of how out of nowhere it was. Ryder went from one of the worst tag team champions of all time on the main roster, to a new character in ECW as a clueless New Jersey idiot that never beat anybody, to an absolute barnburner of a match for the ECW championship.
Miz and Morrison found their footing as characters there, especially Miz.
Mark Henry kind of got to be Hall of Pain Mark Henry before showing that character to a wider audience on Smackdown
Chavo got to gain back a little bit of respectability. Briefly.
Some things I didn't like:
Main roster guy Kane beat Chavo for the ECW championship in 8 seconds at Wrestlemania, because even when Vince owns both companies, he has to make sure everyone knows ECW is totally inferior in every way to his WWE
