AEW Dynamite is back at Daily's Place in Jacksonville for another week of Rona-Era action - forum discussion rules are on the AEW section of the board.
There's two title matches this week, and for the first time, the AEW TNT Championship will be defended. Cody declared last week that he will defend the title every week in open challenges, but this week his challenger is known, as Jungle Boy came out on top of a Battle Royal to become the first challenger. Jungle Boy was able to last ten minutes with Chris Jericho in his highest profile match to date, but now he has a chance at the newest prize in AEW, can he make Cody's historic reign a short one?
It appears that Hangman Page and Kenny Omega's relationship is the best it's been while they've been the AEW World Tag Team Champions, and tonight they face their next challenge for the titles, as they defend the belts against the team of Jimmy Havoc and Kip Sabian, who earned the title shot by defeating former champions SCU last week. The Best Friends wait in the wings as they will challenge for the titles at Fyter Fest "some time in the Summer", but who will Chuck Taylor and Trent end up challenging?
Nyla Rose is still coming to terms with losing the AEW Women's World Title to Hikaru Shida at Double Or Nothing, and her first opponent on her road back to title contention is the returning Big Swole, who hasn't been in action since the pandemic started, owing to her known medical conditions. But Swole is all good to go now, and she faces not only a big monster, but a pissed off one. Will Swole take advantage of Rose's anger?
Last week saw the big debut of the team known as FTR, with Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood coming to confront the Young Bucks, but end up fighting off The Butcher and The Blade. Tonight, Cash and Dax sit down with Tony Schiavone to explain their motivation for arriving at AEW, hoping to contribute to the REVIVAL (see what I did there) of the tag team scene. What do the lads have to say for themselves?
Chris Jericho ended Dynamite last week getting into a major confrontation with none other than Iron Mike Tyson (all stemming from a knockout ten years ago on another wrestling promotion's show), so he'll be stewing as he's in one-on-one action this week against Colt Cabana, who finds himself in an intriguing position as he's attracting interest from The Dark Order. Will Cabana cause a shock by downing "Le Champion", or will Jericho give further heed for Mr. Brodie Lee's lads to go after Boom Boom?
Brian Cage has destroyed everyone in his path since arriving in AEW at Double Or Nothing, and tonight he gets to destroy another poor geek - Cage is scheduled to challenge Jon Moxley for the AEW World Title at Fyter Fest over the summer, will we find out tonight when that show is going to take place?
All this, plus Dr. Britt Baker DMD's continued conspiracy theory aimed at referee Aubrey Edwards, tonight from 8/7c on TNT in the States, TSN in Canada and FITE TV worldwide!
