Very good NXT tonight.
The opening with UE was really good with a solid promo by Cole and Roddy freaking out about Lumis. Also after the break teasing Cole vs. Lee was great.
Lee/Yim vs. The Gargano's was very fun. Johnny is money right now. Them letting women hit moves on the men is great. Oh and the finish and aftermath was hilarious with Johnny causing his wife to be crushed and then lifting her deadweight arm after winning was superb.
Grimes was money in both backstage segments.
The Io celebration video package f***ing ruled.
The Indus Sher squash was fun, but these dudes aren't TV ready.
The Breezango video package did a good job mixing the new seriousness attitudes well still having comedy involved.
Ciampa not wanting to talk after his lost to Kross was simple, but effective. What's next for him?
Ripley trashing Stone was great. Though I did kind of hoped she would've say yes to his offer.
Balor vs. Grimes was a Takeover worthy match. Fast, hard hitting and just plain freaking good.
After the match Finn talking about Lee and NA title got me giddy.
Dakota vs. Kacy. A squash, but still fun. Kacy keeps getting better. I also like the idea of Kai being Io's first challenger.
The short Thatcher vignette warning his trainees was great. Can't wait to see more next week. It reminded me if the WALTER vignettes in NXT UK.
Fantasma/Maverick segment was another good segment and well we all saw it coming Fantasmas heel turn was well done. Santos Escobar is money.
Cole vs. Lumis was another fun match with Lumis hanging with Cole and having a good match.
FALL AND PREY, TICK TOCK! That closing segment with lights going out and Scarlett bringing out the hourglass to show Cole his time is almost up was fantastic.
Very video package/segment heavy show, but with a Takeover worthy match and the great closing. This felt like a fresh NXT. I'll give it an 9.

Much better show than I expected, with me coming in grouchy off a bad Takeover. Only quabble is Finn going after the NA Title, which means it’s just going to go from guy above it to another guy above it. Someone floundering around (LIKE PRIEST) could actually greatly benefit from it. Or just the thought of Grimey with it makes me way too happy. The match should be a banger though.
Loved Santos’ reveal. Instantly went from boring to someone I want to see more of. Shame Drake lost his old theme though.
Fall and Pray? More like Wait and See. Scarlett is money every time she’s on TV though. I fear she’s going to have to put Karrion’s eyes back into his skull once they bug out of his head via INTENSITY.
I find it a bit hard to believe that with all the talent around Dexter Lumis and Cameron Grimes are the best parts of NXT. I knew I liked Lumis from the Breakout Tournament start, but had no idea Grimes had this magic in him.
Oh yeah... NO CHARLOTTE!!!!
It’s a 7.5, rounding up to an 8.

So we're looking at Cole/Kross, Lee/Balor and Rhea/Io as the title feuds leading up to the next Takeover I guess- I gotta say, all three matches excite me. For as stale as most of the roster has gotten on NXT these last few months this feels fresh. Add in the direction they've taken with the crusierweights and I think it's great to see a little intrigue back in NXT.
I do think Kross is being thrown to the main event scene too quickly- I would've gone with him destroying Balor and Cole getting past Lee before having them colliding together but I think it's obvious the UE are Raw/Smackdown bound post-Summerslam so I can see why they are accelerating it- Kross' destruction of Ciampa at IYH makes even more sense now as well.
The question is where do Gargano and Ciampa go from here- I mean Gargano pinned Lee in their tag match so is he gonna be inserted into a potential title match with Balor? TBH I don't really care as Heel Gargano is so awful I don't want him near any major programme in NXT right now.
Ciampa on the other hand I'm interested to see what's next for him- a further fall down the ladder or the start of a comeback to an eventual rematch with Kross?

It's so weird to me when people give shows like this a 10. A 10 means it was an absolutely flawless wrestling show, one of the greatest of all time.
This was just a decent weekly episode.

I guess it depends on what you're judging it on. Like, a 10 weekly episode isn't the same thing as a 10 PPV, because the former is never going to be quite like a latter, just like a 10 corn dog is probably not going to stack up with a 10 steak, and should be judged on its own merits. That said, I wouldn't go 10 on this, either. I went 8. Some cool stuff, but it wasn't a "one for the ages" episode for me. Still, it's not every week I bother to watch both it and Dynamite, and what was on offer enticed me to put in the time and not just read the results, so it had that going for it.

10 outta 10 on the POPPY IS YOUR BEST FRIEND TO SCALE!
9
This was their absoloute strongest show of 2020 thus far and no surprise because alot of it felt like NXT during when they were white hot going into SVS.
Lots of pay offs to stories which turned into new feuds and furthering stories , nothing felt like a slog to get through the matches they did have had a nice uppity energy to them.
NXT was back to being NXT and not NXT being dragged down by main roster intrusion , things felt like they were back to an NXT pace both in matches and everything else.

It was merely OK. And the threat of having to suffer through Karrion Kross getting a megapush is massive negative. 6.
