A couple of weeks ago I decided to watch this on a whim after seeing praise (no spoilers please, just finishing season 4) for it.
It's really damned good.
It's a case where there are all sorts of little nods to the original while creating something wholly new. The characters this go round are much more 3 dimensional and it adds a lot to the lore. It also has a lot of little fun asides.
I also wasn't prepared for it to be as thematically about toxic relationships as it is--be they friendship, parental, or romantic, a major theme through the show is the danger of those types of relationships. It deals with heady stuff for what is generally a children's toon.
I went from thinking "hey this is pretty clever" to being fully invested.
It's just really well done.
I hope the coming He-man show is at least half as good.

And it has Heather from Crazy Ex-Girlfriend on top of all that!

I'm not too hot on it personally (prefer the original), but I do catch the odd episode on the CBBC Channel, nice way to spend a Saturday morning.

I mean, we can absolutely turn this thread into a Sea Hawk quotes thread.
Basically, the best rebooted sea-based character since Aquaman.

I stand by my stance that they flubbed the landing.
the whole Toxic relationships and some people are just flat toxic and you don't owe it to them to have them in your life.
I think ending the way it did kinda goes entirely against it.
Goes without saying but that's just my opinion, it's fine if you disagree.

I love it when Catra does cat-like things.
There's so much I love about Season 5 I want to say but I'm not going to spoil. But aaaaaaah.

I think it's a bit of a minefield to try to navigate. {Spoiler}{Spoiler}On one hand, if Catra did die in a heroic sacrifice or something, it'd basically be doing the whole, "The gay couple has to end in a tragic demise," cliche that is really probably way worse than the abusive relationships thing. Hordak is a lot iffier and I probably wouldn't have redeemed him on any real level, but I do think there is at least something to be said for them trying to leave it up to interpretation just how forgiven he is by not really having anyone but Adora and Entraptra really interact with him and having Mermista question it.
Though my personal interpretation on Shadow Weaver is that she didn't mean a word of what she was saying - since she had been shit-talking Catra earlier in the same scene even - and was just saying that because she recognized it was what she needed to hear to save the day. I don't think the show handled it great exactly (though I think the season itself is great) but I think they kind of wrote themselves into a corner on it, if only because they'd really just gone too far in earlier seasons by that point.

But then...

Looking there's a DVD listing for seasons 1 through 3 on Amazon and they also sell the show digitally on there, though can't find any sign of a Blu-ray release. Maybe now that the series is finished though.

I thought the ending was earned. Yeah it was about toxic relationships, but that's not to say those can't be mended and forgiven sometimes too. I thought that's what happened here, first with the parental one&them the romantic one. Especially with the latter, watching this all within a week or so, they were building to that from the get go. The one thing I would have changed is not to have one more last 'you don't want me' thing in the middle of season 5.
Other than that though felt they stuck the landing.
Entrapta, the silly clearly on the spectrum genius was my favorite character, followed by Sea Hawk, Swift Wind and Wrong Hordak. Really good stuff.
