If TNT title match main events again, then I can see NXT finally winning. We still don't have an opponent announced this week, unless it's a big name it needs to stay away this week. I thought it was said that the TNT title was going to be defended every week? If true, it would be awfully soon to already go back on that, IMO.

Well, Cage arguably will have a way better match here with Mox than Hager did. But that's not exactly a HIGH bar to set. At least they might have more physical encounters because Hager and Moxley was a lot of video packages. AEW needs to learn to not put the world champ segment on dead time slot. They could easily started the show with promo and beatdown. You don't hide this less then 4 minute segment in middle of quarter 7. Where people can miss it easily. Thats it. The show format is starting to be the issue, last week FTR was the lowest point of the show, this week it was the highest.

FTR were bigger draws than Cody.
Guess Cody couldn't hear that one coming.

I think I'm most shocked that they lost so many viewers on the six-man. The Inner Circle and Orange Cassidy dropping 50,000 as the lead in on the second hour is really strange. Especially since Jericho pretty much almost always gains viewers, and even though he was out for the entire first hour, this was the segment that had a neon sign blinking that he'd do something here. I'll blame the best friends. They can be the scapegoats

I think some people look at quarter hours as though it happens in a vacuum, as though one segment doesn't positively or negatively impact the next. Look what led into that Best Friends/Inner Circle segment. It was the nothing women's tag given too much time (as usual with AEW's women's matches). I would venture a guess people started tuning out near the end of that and didn't come back. Probably a better idea to do that 6 man a bit later around the 9:00 hour, or just move it to the main event. It was odd to put it around the 8:45 quarter, much like it was odd to put the Moxley/Cage deal in a dead zone quarter before the main.

While I think things are too erric to make any absolute decision, personally I never was a fan of the open challenge thing, even when Cena did it,so i'm curious how well it will do.
Even if the wrestler is awesome,it is basically random matches for the sake of it.

Obligatory "stop drawing absolute conclusions from quarter hour breakdowns because without context they mean nothing" post goes here.

Even if the wrestler is awesome,it is basically random matches for the sake of it. It only works if you can bring in real challengers that have an actual chance of winning the title Let's say Ryder came in as a surprise opponent and beat Cody for the title. He could lose the title the next week but now the gimmick has legs because you wonder who comes out next and "anyone can have a chance" It is a nice perk for the young guys to get 10 mins with Cody but even then that losses intrigue. Cody is going to have to smoke some people sometime to break off the predictable pace

I'm not big on the open challenge gimmick but if you're going to do it, do it like Jungle Boy where it was this big war where he looked like a million bucks. Marq Quen basically just got his ass beat for 10 minutes then tapped with little resistance.

Marq Quen basically just got his ass beat for 10 minutes then tapped with little resistance. He had a ton of spots where he looked good, including that corkscrew DDT counter, and the 450 onto the ramp. I have to argue the "little resistance" part And considering Quen is a tag team dude and incredibly young, I don't think his match should have had the same calibur as Jungle Boy, but it did everything it needed to do and he lost because he was still selling the ankle injury from two weeks ago. It shouldn't have mained but it was a fine match imo, I don't think Quen is getting enough credit here.

AEW doing that well on a repeat at that time is very impressive. It might lead to TNT actually airing repeats more often, which could attract people outside of the normal timeslot to watch it on Wednesdays or even at the repeat timeslot itself.

It's being defended, they announced as such, but no opponent for Cody yet, they will either announce it this week or Cody will have a mystery opponent If they do the mystery opponent thing it really should open the show.

You were replying to people who were talking about whether it should main event or not. So that’s a no..... thank you. It's the implication. If you say something in response to people who are talking about a certain topic, then it can be reasonably assumed that your response pertains to the same thing. Meaning that since you were responding to people who were discussing whether or not the TNT Championship should main event, even if you didn't directly say so yourself, it is not unreasonable to think that you were talking about that as well.
