I mean, it's just one bendie toy, but they actually made SuperPro merch. That blows my mind.

Quick, let’s find it and send it to Minnesota so Linkara can have it!

This is so rad. I never actually read the comics but in the times I've run into stuff about them on the internet over the years, I weirdly dig the designs.

Am I the only one who doesn't think Superpro is a bad character in terms of concept.
I won't try to tell you the comic was any good, but at the same time I don't think the character should be stuck in comics purgatory forever. Granted I can understand having to drop the NFL name, and logo from his character, but that doesn't mean the character of Phil Grayfield shouldn't ever appear again ever.
I guess I'm of the mindset that any character, even the most cringeworthy can be redeemed with the right writer, creative direction, changes etc.
Or does the NFL own the character, and the Superpro name entirely, and I've spouted all that speech for nothing?

Purportedly there is a rights issue keeping Marvel from using the character. As far as I know he was only ever even mentioned like once or twice as a one off joke since.

So it's a bit more complex than just dropping NFL from the character. I can kind of see that.
EDIT: I guess what I was trying to say is I don't really see what else the NFL could possibly own (or even want to own) about the character that Marvel can't just drop the logo to use him.

Dunno how much it’s worth now, but I actually still have SuperPro’s debut somewhere in my closet. And yes, it’s god awful and makes no sense, but it’s darn funny.

Could they still use his civilian identity (Phil Grayfield) and just give him a different sports-themed name and costume and use him that way?

When I first got back into comics in the late 90's, I bought a blister pack of 20 comics from Walmart, and NFL SuperPro #1 was in it. What a way to get back into comics! hehe It also had 2 different copies of X-Men #1. I thought I had hit the jackpot! Later I found out how many of those were printed!

I love the weird crossover heroes spawned from the Jim shooter era, Super pro, dazzler and the likes. It's a shame the Dazzler movie they had planned never happened, it would have been the richest late 70s cheese.

They missed an opportunity to update him and the concept, twice actually:

Still holding out hope that Marvel releases a TPB collection of him one day.

Still holding out hope that Marvel releases a TPB collection of him one day. Easier to dig the issues out of the cheap bins and get them bound as a hardcover.
