I heart Cody. I am down for a heel turn tho. I think this is what this is all leading too. To me he works better as a heel but when AEW first started All of the Elite was God tier levels over. None of them could of started out as heel. Cody especially. They finally brought a legit alternative to WWE. I was there live at the 1st Dynamite and his reaction is something I haven't heard in wrestling since I was a kid. My buddies 10 year old son asked us if this is how wrestling was for us growing up. With all the theatrics , having his own "Family", his own brand I can see the seeds getting planted to turn on the Elite.

Cody's whole deal is just gonna be better when he goes heel, because then the braggadociousness is going to make more sense. Just a matter of when. No to Cody turning heel. I think it’s a bad idea now. This is how a top babyface in wrestling should be promoted and presented. If you want someone to be a draw, the company has to make you look like a big star. Faces don’t get that treatment enough today, and I think it’s limiting their potential when companies aren’t willing to go the extra mile. There’s nothing wrong with a braggadocious face if their villains on the other side of the fence are evil enough.

I don’t think he should be a heel for *years*. Let him be a top drawing face for at least four, five years.

I am amused at people who are fed up with Cody while watching AEW. The promotion was designed in part to be a vanity project for Cody to put himself over. Anyone watching should know this going in.

I enjoy Cody. I think his presence is needed in AEW, and adds to the product. You can see him grooming young talent too, and it has become a nice plot point of whom Cody will put over in the future. I get your frustration, and I'm sorry I cannot agree with you. Please accept this photo as I hope it helps. Double-Bagged for your protection. Damn, now I wish I made this joke when he got the neck tattoo haha.

That’s the impression you get? Because to me it seems Cody is over with fans because he gets to present himself as the underdog babyface who loves the company and wants the best for it. It’s hard to say the promotion is about putting him over when he has only won 2 matches on PPV. Also, put me in the “still enjoying Cody” camp because for as much as he goes over the top he is still capable of getting me invested in his big feuds and his promos are usually quality. If only he would stop bleeding in every semi-big match.

I'm a fan of Cody and I actually think he's possibly the best wrestler in AEW(just imo)
However either he's building to a very well done heel turn, or he's just kind of full of himself with all of the grandiose stuff.
The one thing I thought was very strange, was after he beat Jungle Boy, JB raised Cody's hand and did the pointing thing. Like bruh, it's usually the other way around. The veteran usually raises the hand and points to the young up-and-coming star. But whatever, I'm gonna wait and see where Cody goes with this TNT title thing.

Who do you think should be in Cody's current spot/getting this type of presentation instead?

Cody hasn't won every feud or PPV match but at the end of the day AEW is a promotion with him as an executive designed to get him over. That doesn't mean other people can't get over, but Cody is going to use it as a platform on some level to get himself over.

Who do you think should be in Cody's current spot/getting this type of presentation instead? For me personally he's where he should be in that he's at the top of the card but staying involved to where he can help young guys until it is time for him to sit at the very top of the card and interact with Omega, Mox etc I'd just turn down the peasantry and grand standing a bit

Until AEW I didn't see shit in Cody except as a midcarder. I am also inherently suspicious of anybody booking themselves. However I think Cody in AEW is a main event talent and a very unselfish one at that. He loses almost all his big matches and can never be champion. His entrances are pretty extravagant but it's not like fans are starting to turn on him. While I do get why you are finding it so annoying, I simply don't share the opinion. My point exactly, cody is the ONLY ONE who "cant" be champion. many episode of dynamite last year focused on this storyline as one of the main programs... no one else, just CODY cant be champion. So whats that mean? it will just lead to a even bigger graphic novel/story for when he does become champion about how for months/ months/ years/years or whatever it takes him to become champion, he had to fight, spill his blood etc. just more to add to his characters ego and over the topness. How long until everyone is wearing a nightmare family jacket?

I hate Super Cody too, They Adam Bradley. I turn the channel whenever he's featured. I find him extremely boring and his matches predictable since winning the TNT Championship. Cody is the worst.

Who do you think should be in Cody's current spot/getting this type of presentation instead? Cody should be one of the top 5-6 peoples in AEW, just based on who he is/ and his championship history. The problem is, no other babyface is treated like Cody. You rarely see the Young Bucks anymore, same with Kenny and Hangman. Even before thise whole pandemic, its been made clear from day 1, that "AEW IS CODY". It's almost like Cody is the father of everyone else playing basketball. Cody could win every game if he wanted to, but he lets the kids win every now and then but its only because he allows it. " I will lose to MJF because in the long run, it can be used to tell some huge graphic story about how i overcame this and overcame that in 6 months"..it doesnt come across as him being unselfish and having no ego. Cody is now the only guy who you know every single week you will see in action on Dynamite, you know every single week he will get some form of promo, and youll see his lackies all dressed up in this jackets with his logo.

I dunno, it might actually be hilarious if the whole roster would be wearing nightmare family jackets.

I dig Cody but I’ve started kinda checking out of his stuff. He’s the only person that’s been consistently featured(promo time almost every show, high profile matches, vignettes etc) since AEW started, that’s crazy to think about. I think it has to do because from day one he came out with amazing promos and matches, so AEW felt that need to keep having him do that. Not saying Kenny couldn't do it, or anybody on the roster given time could tell stories like Cody can but Cody is one of the best story tellers they have that can go longer than a lot of the others. The best talkers they have that are active are Cody, Mox, Britt, Jericho, Dustin, and MJF. I'm still waiting for that "Amazing" promo from Omega and Hangman. We have some who had good, but others not so much. SCU I know they can do it, but waiting for it in AEW. A lot of guys just need that angle. I am amazed how quick people are harping on him. He predictable since winning the TNT title. ITS BEEN A MONTH. He doesn't always win, hell he PPV win lost record shows that. He did put over MJF. The guy has won to at less kept him creditable. Cody is one of the stars, of course he going to win a lot, as TNT champion he not going to loss it right away, doesn't work that way when you want to add credibility to a new belt. So no you can't have him hot potato it.

With all the theatrics , having his own "Family", his own brand I can see the seeds getting planted to turn on the Elite. Those seeds are definitely being planted. He's made several offhand comments along the lines of "am I even still in the Elite?" And he's way, way too dialed into the fanbase and its perception of the company for the arrogant, entitled elements of his character to not be intentional in my opinion. I think it's going to wind up being a slow burn heel turn.

I think it's going to wind up being a slow burn heel turn. I think with him saying "I hate cos play wrestling", "I hate play time wrestling " was another small indication he is slowly turning heel. I can see him accusing the rest of the Elite or just certain other wrestlers of that, And that he brings "serious wrestling" to AEW.
