Because by most accounts he seems to be a good, chill guy.
But on NXT, he has the vibe of someone whose bad side you don’t want to run into, with he way people literally *bounce* when he powerbombs him, the pointed way he says “bitch” in promos (Russo tries this when he writes women all the time, and it fails), or that triple threat where he rises into the camera view like an angry giant and Balor looks terrified.

It’s an effective use of a guy who could snatch your soul from your body if you piss him off enough
NXT deserves a ton of credit for portraying him as a guy who takes no shit. It’s never about Keith having a good time in the ring. It’s always about a purpose and every time someone pisses him off his mannerisms change
Whenever a heel turn does come one day he will kill it because he is believable as someone who can hurt you if they really wanted to

Yeah he's been fantastic for awhile, but him getting pissed off has made him even better if that was possible.
I hoping his match with Kross goes well. I'm worried it might suck lol I like both guys but if this is booked wrong, it could be McIntyre vs. Roman like from Mania a 2 years back.. oof

The easiest way to book the match IMO is book it from the perspective of a story first and actual match second.
Keith should batter him early on just brutalize him
But he lets his anger override his sense and so he doesn't beat him when he has the chances so Kross keeps hanging around and getting his shots in when he can slowly wearing him down as the match goes on....and each pin gets him that much close but by the end he simply makes one crucial error that costs him and Keith hands him his first loss.
They accomplish two things this way.
1. Kross proves that he can beat Keith but he lost due to one crucial error of judgement.
2.Keith's emotion is going to cost him the title at some point.
So then you can do a rematch where both points are addressed and it becomes just a battle of who is better...Keith keeps his emotions in check and Kross now has to wrestle the perfect match but it is put into question of whether that is even enough.

Keith's the kind of guy who won't start trouble, but he will finish it.
Usually when they have people swear to look edgy I roll my eyes, but when Keith does it I'm always surprised. It's like, "Oh damn, he really is pissed."

He is one of the faces that actually feels like they have any kind of bite, while still feeling like a good, likable dude still.
I think it helps that he has a credible look and style, and so far hasn't been written like an idiot, outside of the NA title relinquishing not really being handled necessarily the best.

I’m not the biggest fan of Lee, but I do like this persona. It feels real.
What I’m not a fan of is they’ve built Kross up to be a killer and Keith is treating him like a bitch. If Len wins this first match, a LOT of Kross’ momentum and mystique will have taken a large hit.
This feud needed to wait a few months where they could have played this the exact same way and it would look very different. NXT rushed this one.

If Len wins this first match, a LOT of Kross’ momentum and mystique will have taken a large hit. This feud needed to wait a few months where they could have played this the exact same way and it would look very different. NXT rushed this one. I like Kross but I don’t like him beating Lee. What do you do if he loses though? Then he looks like a chump. They shouldn’t have done this match yet, but since they are, Lee has to win. He plays it excellently, but it's something we need more of. He's what AJ should been as a babyface When AJ got pissed off he reverted to more his heel mindset but with Lee, he's not out to punish people but more so beat you down and show you how much better then you he is. No one cracks jokes or makes light of it Even "Shooter" Finn Balor has shown to be afraid of Lee when he's angry and he goes after everyone |

Yeah, they pulled the trigger on Kross vs. Lee too soon IMO. They could've dragged Lee vs. Cole out to this Takeover and had Lee retain in the rematch whle Kross continued his path of destruction against guys like Kushida, Lorcan, Dijak, and Dain or feuded with Balor. |

I agree that they probably should have waited with Kross. I imagine we get some sort of non-ending, but we'll see how it goes.
I respect Lee, and he's someone who Vince actually *likes*, and was a big part of why Lee got that career-propelling Survivor Series performance where he pinned Rollins and was teased as being on Roman's level, no small feat. Then again, Kane was Vince's favorite character, and someone Vince was apparently very particular about when writers would offer up suggestions. Katie Vick was Vince's attempt to make Kane more complex and deep as a character. So, sometimes it isn't to your benefit to be Vince's favorite, even if I think he'll probably escape that kind of thing.
