I think I remember Flair bringing up that he wanted him to break his record on TV and with Cena pretty much done, I can see this happening. I doubt they would pass up the opportunity on breaking Flair’s record

Randy is only 40 and could probably wrestle off and on for another 10 years. He’s very good at reinventing himself so I could definitely see himself breaking the record.

Possibly, he does still wrestle often enough at the moment for it to happen.

My opinion hasn't really changed since your last thread about the idea, but with their lack of star power and how unlikely it looks that anybody new's going to break out anytime soon, this is actually looking more and more likely. Orton's one of the closest things to a big name guy they've got left on the fulltime roster.

He needs 4 more title runs to make 17 from what I remember

I've been sick of Randy as Champion since 2011.

He's the most likely option barring one last Cena run. The only other person I could see hitting 17 is Charlotte, but that would feel much more incredibly forced.

Just what WWE needs! (This would suck.)

Could he? Sure. He's positioned as a good transitional champion candidate, probably.
Should he? Probably not. He's popular, but I don't feel like beating him is necessarily that big a rub for anyone.

He needs 4 more reigns and is probably only going to be a full-time member of the roster for 4 or 5 more years. At best he'll reach 15 like Hunter.

Randy Orton is actually one of the worst actual wrestlers continuously in the main event scene in a long, long while.
Most of his reigns are trash. Every now and then he’s interesting but the times are few and far between.

Depends on how long he keeps going and how desperate Vince gets.

Which reign is he on now?
Oh and also I think he’s gonna win the title and eventually lose it to Charlotte. I accept the consequences of speaking this into existence.

But I can count on one hand how many matches of his I've enjoyed since 2002. Which is crazy to think about. Edge at Backlash was one of them.

He’s 40 and has been at this for a long time already.

Personally I would have Cena do it in his farewell tour and then give someone on the cusp a major rub by beating him.

It'll probably happen. I like Orton well enough most of the time, but the thought of him holding the title even one more time makes me groan.

Imagine all the incredible stars that wrestling has thrown up over the years, and the person who held the most World Championships was Randy 'chinlock' Orton. Not a bad wrestler by any means, but the guy goes years between meaningful feuds.
