Like they’ll upload old episodes of MLW Underground on their YouTube next to Fusion clips, and I cannot handle Joey going on about “this is REAL wrestling and not SPORTS ENTERTAINMENT” constantly. I’m trying to enjoy Mike Awesome killing a dude and it’s “he’s not that 70s Guy, he’s not the Fat Chick Thriller, he’s a machine!” Yeah, I get it, man. “Vampiro is not a cartoon character here!” Yes, I can see that. “This is MLW, we WRESTLE here!” God, shut up. I for real watched the Kojima/Vampiro match on mute eventually.
Dude’s just never done it for me. I’d honestly rather listen to Michael Cole being overbearing over Joey sometimes.

This was pretty much my thoughts on the first episode of Underground. Then I checked the dates and laughed my ass off because Vamp was back to doing the very things Styles harped on about him not doing on Underground about four or so years later for WSX.

My biggest pet peeve from a booking perspective is when they basically say:
"HEY THOSE OTHER GUYS ARE FAKE. I MEAN, SO ARE WE, BUT WE'RE WAY MORE SERIOUS ABOUT MAKING WHAT'S A WORK SEEM REAL!!"
It's just stupid. Taking away from another company like that just takes away from you, as well.

I haven't seen these videos and it's probably for the best as I've always been a big fan of Joey Styles and I think hes top 5 commentators of all time next to JR, Schiavone, Vince and Mauro.

I've never been a big Joey Styles guy, honestly. I sometimes kind of forget he exists for a bit.

Whenever a commentator says something like “we aren’t slapping thighs around here!” or whatever the f***, it’s annoying and takes away from the show. I’ve seen at least both Matt Striker and Josh Mathews say that on commentary.

I've honestly never cared for Styles no matter what promotion he was doing commentary in

I never really cared for Styles' commentary unless he was paired with Cyrus in ECW. On his own though it makes some matches near unwatchable. Usually because of the overbearing "Here at ECW.." or "You might see that kinda stuff up North, but not here!" lines. f*** off, Joey.

This past week was rough. There didn't seem to be a connect with what they wanted to call Crowbar. The graphics called him "Devon Storm", Joey referenced that he was going by real real name, Chris Ford. Then Joey kept trying to get "The Crowbar" nickname over by saying it every chance he got. Joey just repeated "the Crowbar" over and over. He was reaching Michael Cole levels of overbearing.

Current MLW is my favorite show, I’ve tried watching these old episodes.
Woof.
Somethings are best left in the vault.

Sounds pretty much like how he used to be in ECW. I don't need some guy constantly yelling at me about how much more cool their product is than the competition, especially when his product is mostly a bunch of scraggly dudes who look like they were extras from No Holds Barred. Just have a good product and I'll watch it in addition to those other shows I'm not supposed to like.

Joey Styles worked in original ECW, but he’s been varying levels of lame since then.

Joey Styles worked in original ECW, but he’s been varying levels of lame since then. On the ECW broadcasts I don’t mind him as much. He knows how to show disgust at the heels well, and that sort of confrontational attitude fit the style (no pun intended) of the company better. I know back then MLW tried, but there was no way they were gonna totally recapture that ECW aura (especially not post-2001 invasion and only a fraction of the former talent is there).

I've never been a big Joey Styles guy, honestly. I sometimes kind of forget he exists for a bit. He worked really really well in 90’s ECW, he was the right voice for the product. Pretty much anything else he’s done? Not so much.

I liked Styles with Cyrus on commentary in the original ECW, but I agree that the MLW run wasn't great.
Of course, I didn't think Eric Gargiulo was much better because it sounded like he kept repeating "Ah come on! Son of a bitch!" over and over during a match with Gary Hart interfering.

Joey needs someone to work with.
I always found Joey tolerable enough with Cyrus or Gertner.
