from what I've seen of it on twitch, it seems a decent enough story peppered with funny one liners. game play does resemble anthem/marvel: avengers in open world- travel to set point to fight a horde of enemies to get the next chunk of story/cut scenes and repeat. Samoa Joe seems to have done a good job voicing king shark. "it's a fun game"

Seems like a “This ain’t amazing but it isn’t the disaster we expected” is a lot of what I’m reading. I still think it looks fun but will actually be patient and wait for a price drop.

It’s frustrating because gameplay wise, it looks actually decent. My problem is that for me, the storyline and character dynamics being advertised are a complete turnoff.

I’ve played it for a few hours. It is basically what you think it is. The gunplay and travel feel great and are fun. The story I’ve seen so far is pretty good with a lot of characters popping in on both sides. And you’re going to do the same things over and over. It’s not as bad as people feared. But the reasons behind those fears are accurate if that makes sense. On one hand it is kind of interesting to take the city wide gameplay of Arkham City or Knight and add total chaos of a squad shooter. On the other…the story missions in those games where you infiltrate buildings to get to a boss were the strongest parts in the first place.

So in Green Lantern's biography, they call and describe him one of the few good ones.
Given that it's John Stewart, make of that what you will

Played it at a mates house over the weekend. It's a bit crap, imo.

www.denofgeek.com/games/suicide-squad-kill-the-justice-leagues-surprising-sales/Sales are bad. It's like watching a car wreck where the driver at fault was wearing a blindfold. No one wanted this, no one asked for it, and when they were resoundingly told no, they were forced to forge on due to sunk costs. Not going into the arguments that have been done to death, but I will say this. Going from Batman to anyone but Superman in terms of a game you want to push as the next big DC thing was always going to fail. People are screaming for a Superman game, it's insane that this is being ignored.

Superman games are notoriously hard to do right because of just how powerful Supes is compared to Batman or Spider-Man. And to be frank, I don't trust the Rocksteady who made Arkham Knight and Suicide Squad to make even an average Superman game.

What I'm saying is from a consumer perspective, the thing people want from DC games is not a mystery.

Huh, could have sworn I posted here last week, but apparently I was mistaken or the post got deleted (which would be kind of funny considering...)
Anyway, not long after the game came out people were reporting that Steam was purging negative reviews for it, and not even being subtle about it. At one point the game had over 7,000 reviews and an overall score of Mostly Negative. That number suddenly dropped to less than 3,000 and a score of Mostly Positive. Even with new reviews coming in (most of them negative), it's still sitting at about 80%, but that's a bit misleading since a lot of the 'positive' reviews still say that you shouldn't pay full price for the game because it's not worth it, while other people are leaving positive reviews that trash the game just to avoid getting deleted again.

I feel like the fact that the game's barely three weeks removed from its release and it's not even interesting enough to still be getting talked about as a punchline kind of says it all. This kind of game lives and dies on how much people are talking about it and already nobody is talking about it.

It was just a bad concept from the beginning. Who wants to play as the Suicide Squad hunting down the Justice League instead of playing as the Justice League hunting down anyone? Even without getting into the gameplay and story, it just isn't what most people want.

Suicide Squad had a lot working against it. As popular as some of the Squad members are like Harley, this game just felt very cynical from the minute the concept of killing the Justice League was revealed. And then it's part of the Arkhamverse, probably ruining any chances of any real sequels set in that continuity from being made short of a massive retcon (Which, to be fair, isn't unheard of for comics lol). And then you've got the likely interference of WB Games making it into some Live Service game with the usual bullshit that comes along with it. Out of all the publishers out there, WB Games has been one of the worst for microtransactions and trend-chasing for exploiting its customers for years. And that's saying something considering all the BS Triple A publishers throw out there to exploit their customers.

What's weird is the whole thing talks about multiverse... so why make it in the Arkham verse... where you also have to retcon things like Deadshot WHO WAS IN ARKHAM CITY.
