Why do people like Matt Groening and Seth McFarlene get like, all this credit for there shows and how good they are and everything if they only wrote like the pilot and a few episodes after that maybe? Is there something Im missing?

For one thing, those shows are their creations. For example, Stan Lee is usually credited as the "Creator" of SPIDER-MAN. He and Steve Ditko came up with the idea, and cranked out the first story. Lee would crank out many more scripts for a few years, until he quit to become editor which he carried on for a few more years (into the 1970s, I believe.)
Yet look at the people that helped flesh out Spidey, but most media or "pop culture" don't bother to credit, like Ditko, McFarlane, MJS, and other writers/artists.
Second, Groening and McFarlane are now "Executive Producers" have final say on those shows, while they now have writing staffs crank out scripts(with they either veto or adjust something they catch). They get credited, despite say Schwartzwalder's classic SIMPSONS scripts.
Thing is, Groening's involvement for the last few years. Some (disgruntled) former writers claim that Groening hasn't done anything really for years save for collecting his nice paychecks from syndication sales, while others dispute. Plus, he shares the Executive Producer duties with Sam Simon and James Brooks(and Brooks/Groening have conflicted many times over the years).
With McFarlane, hes more involved(at least I would think he is) obviously with FAMILY GUY and AMERICAN DAD as a voice actor himself on both shows.

They should stop putting "Ford" on cars too, that guys long dead. Yeah, completely different thing here dude. I aint saying that there name shouldnt be in the credits, I just dont like how little credit the writers seem to get, everyone just remembers the creator. Same thing with directors getting like all the credit for a movie they didnt write...

I mean, the director definitely has a say in how a movie turns out, and a different director would make a totally different movie a lot of the time, but there would be no movie if someone hadn't written it!

Yeah, the director one always kinda bugged me, too. I mean, the director definitely has a say in how a movie turns out, and a different director would make a totally different movie a lot of the time, but there would be no movie if someone hadn't written it! The movie wouldn't be made if there was no Director either. Hell, there'd be no movie without any actors. You can't give every guy involved top billing. The fact is that despite whatever is written in the scrip the Director provides the overall vision. The director edits anything he or she wants at will. The Director overall does more work and is more important than the Writer. For example, Quentin Tarantino wrote "Natural Born Killers" but Oliver Stone edited it to the point that Tarantino demanded his name be taken off. It turned into a completely different vision. That's why Directors get top billing. As for the creators, it's because they made the show. Ford no longer sells Model T's but Ford's name is still on it. It's kinda like branding a program. If you hear Stan Lee came up with something you'll watch it. And apparently if people hear Seth MacFarlane came up with something they'll watch something as crummy as American Dad.

I know what you mean.
But when I see 'Directed By Joss Wheadon' for an episode of 'Buffy The Vampire Slayer', 'Angel' or 'Firefly' I know it's going to be a great episode.
Well except for that musical episode of Buffy. That can burn in hell that episode.
