It's kind of bizarre when you think about it. He made his formal debut 10 years and 4 days ago (total coincidence on the timing making this thread, just happened to check the date in the process of making it), and in that time he won the WWE and World titles two times each, the US title twice, Money in the Bank, and the Royal Rumble, and the lasting impression of the guy is basically, "He was a boring f***-up."
Really I struggle to think of any of his matches that really get recommended that much. He certainly had some great ones - top of my head, the ladder match with Christian - but it's like he left no lasting impression on the company at large whatsoever.

MAYBE Jinder and he's the only other one in the discussion.

Looking over wiki's listings of who's held the world titles (any of the three of them *groan*) in WWE, the closest alternative I can think of is Ziggler, who I never even realized was a 2-time world champ. Dolph's a better performer, but I feel like Alberto at least stands out for anyone who was watching at the time as this constant presence who way too much TV time was devoted to trying to get over, whereas Dolph's been around forever as just sorta another part of the show, with his peak being maybe the 3rd or 4th popular guy among smarks during the post-Pipebomb era, with the pops for him never amounting to enough to get any bones thrown his way like they did for Punk or Bryan.

Sheamus has to be up there. Guy's a total bore on his own, and has had like 6 world title reigns, a Royal Rumble win, and MITB win. Also never forget: Never. Ever. Forget.

I’ll always think the title voids of Ziggler, Del Rio, Seamus and swagger as Reigns that are pointless and part of the reason that to this day people don’t care for the product

Yeah, they could totally remove all of Del Rio's matches from the Network, and maybe 10 PPVs would feel like they are missing much, most of which were the ones he main evented.

Del Rio is the walking-talking definition of "who gives a shit"
Dude has Hall of Fame "Stats" and in the grand scheme of things he's a bust that did jack shit for the company or anybody really.

Alberto was talented but his personal problems got in the way.

Lots of wrestlers are talented, but they don't get half the shit Sheamus and/or Del Rio have been given. I figured that was the point of this thread.

I'd put Sheamus over Del Rio without even a moment's thought. He was part of bigger moments, like the 18 Seconds, in the company's history than Del Rio was, and will be remembered for some of that, anyway.
Del Rio, not really. After the failure against Edge, he just never really captured the imagination again in his first run, and the second run came after he'd already damaged his reputation as the folk hero standing up to WWE. To then go back and take the money put the last nail in the coffin, honestly.
Del Rio is an important figure in North American wrestling, but like his uncle Mil Mascaras, it's often going to be about "who would he be if he wasn't a colossal piece of shit?"

Dude is the poster boy of being given everything and not amounting to shit.
At least Sheamus managed to get some love as a mid-card guy, which is where he belongs probably.
Del Rio just has no redeeming qualities.

In 2013, the UK quiz show "Pointless" had a question on Royal Rumble winners. The idea of the game is to choose an answer that none of their selection of 100 surveyed people knew. Almost every recent winner had someone who knew them. The only answers that would have won the game... Hacksaw Jim Duggan, Big John Studd, Yokozuna, Lex Luger, Vince McMahon, and... Alberto Del Rio, at that point only 2 years shy of winning the biggest Rumble in history.

Jinder will be less remembered, but given his actual career accomplishments, he's not really done much. A world title reign and a US title reign and that's it. He's more of just a blip.
Dolph will have more of a lasting legacy. His MITB cash in, ironically, on Del Rio will be shown in highlights forever and is one of the biggest pops ever in WWE. Guy got a great match and feud out of Miz. He might be a punchline now, but for a time he was tremendously legit and has more memorable matches than Del Rio has.
Del Rio has nearly ever accomplishment you can have in WWE and it amounts to nothing. He is a 4 time world champion and the only memorable part about any of them was Dolph cashing in. He had a more sustained push than Dolph or Jinder, but he did far less with them.
