Lots of discussion on here right now about unplanned issues with Matts crashing through the air, but to get back to storylines, where do we all think the Elite's breakdown is heading?
-Page screwed the Bucks out of a title shot on Dynamite a few weeks back and still hasn't given any explanation for it besides making a pouty face when people yell at him. So far, this is still the most overtly heelish act any of the Elite's done to each other. -The Bucks were pretty much working as heels against the Jurassic Express at All Out, and have been played as abrasive dicks throughout this. -Omega blows off Page after they lose the tag titles despite Page not actually doing anything wrong, then bitches at the Bucks about whether or not they're on his side while the Bucks are played neutrally, seemingly trying to talk him down.
In short, they're all dicks and they're all turning on each other at the same time. I'd guess they're going for a shades of grey sort of thing, but it's going to be interesting to see whether they manage to pull it off.

I feel like Matt and Nick simply can't let Hangman go despite saying so. They're just having a hard time in doing so, and now with Kennt dropping him too where I imagine they expected Kennt to be the voice of reason has jarred them to the point they haven't exactly gone back to Hangman, but they aren't just blindly following Kenny either
I see Hangman and The Bucks remaining face while Kenny goes Cleaner.

Matt turns heel on Nick, Kenny and Page
Kenny turns heel on Matt, Nick and Page
Page turns heel on Matt, Nick and Kenny
And Nick gets confused by the whole thing and somehow turns heel on himself

The Bucks are dicks, but thus far definitely still faces. Page and Omega are both portrayed as struggling with mental health issues. It's actually sort of genius that Omega, the guy who was trying to keep everyone together earlier in the year, actually never got over the issues he was dealing with at the start of Dynamite and finally snapped after trying to keep it under wraps.

I wonder a bit where Cody will play into things. They've done a good job having him off in his own world. He was getting more heelish, but a lot of that could just be hubris more than an outright heel turn.

I hope this plays out differently than the Omega/Cody feud. There are similar themes at hand.

He was getting more heelish, but a lot of that could just be hubris more than an outright heel turn. After he won the TNT Title, Cody said he was leaving The Elite so to focus on that so it appears he's no longer part of it.

Yeah Cody hasn't been on BTE in forever. I think he's just off doing his own thing. He needs to get back soon though, since Dynamite has not been as good of a show without him.
As far as this Elite stuff I have no idea where this is going at this point but can they just pull the trigger already? If WWE can be guilty of pulling the trigger too quick on stuff like the Bayley attack on Sasha, this Bucks/Omega/Page thing has just gone on forever to the point where it's impossible to know where anyone stands. At some point fans have to know whether a wrestler is positioned as a heel or face, even if there are some shades of gray thrown in. Omega needed to just blast Page with that table and go full heel Cleaner and become the ultra top heel that AEW needs at the moment since Jericho is basically done in that role. Hopefully they do something big on TV this week.

Think all of The Elite are just tweeners at this point. Even Cody who got laid out a few weeks ago was acting heelish before that segment. I don’t know if we will get a definitive heel turn from any of them. In the case of Page he’s been teasing a heel turn all year but actually came out of All Out looking sympathetic.
I’m not sure AEW even knows right now but this could all be super long term booking.

Kenny is aligned with the Bucks, who are set by fate to wrestle FTR and complete a story started years ago. Hangman Page would have made sense to turn heel a year ago, but the Anxious Millennial Cowboy is such a transcendent character that turning him heel would be detrimental. So Kenny turns on Page, but does not go too far, so he and the Young Bucks can have a moral high ground over FTR. This also means that Page as a character has closure to chase, Kenny called for a "clean break" from the Hangman, and Adam Page is left with nothing to support him when he was at his lowest point (facing a team he was partially responsible for helping, and then losing to them) so he's going to chase Kenny to fill that void while Kenny wants nothing to do with him.
It's like poetry, it rhymes.

Kenny will be a heel, I'm sure. The Bucks are being dicks, but I don't think have fully turned yet.
I don't see Page as a heel at all, despite the way he cost the Bucks the title shot. He's just falling victim to being manipulated and pulled at from all sides. Hopefully, he'll wake up to it all, tell everyone (Kenny, Bucks, FTR) to f*** off and be a loner face.

Frankly I don't have a clue where it is heading, and I actually love that. I give AEW a lot of shit, but they set a high standard early on and I expect them to maintain that shit.
This story is in some ways, part of it. I cannot fault them for the fact that I don't know where it's going.
However I do think that the last PPV was the time to develop some of this more.
I have no idea what will happen, but here is what I hope.
I hate the Elite as a stable, I think they make no sense and their existence is based entirely on continuity that exists before AEW did. This makes it less coherent for me, inpenetrable for my partners, and just overall irritating for all of us.
So, here is what I would like please: - Bucks turn heel, they be a tag team by themselves - Page joins whatever this new Horsemen Tully Blanchard is doing seems to be, but while remaining a babyface - Omega turns heel on Page - Cody comes back having been hammered by Brodie as a babyface again because Christ please can someone in AEW remain face - The Elite splits, hooray!

God, I hope not.
With Cody gone, you basically have Mox as the #1 face, and then either Orange Cassidy or Darby Allin as distant 2nd, at least in terms of single stars.

I said this in another thread. I think Keny and the Bucks are going to be heel Elite again and top guys in the company at some point soon. Cody seems to be doing the Nightmare Family thing. And Page seems to be striking out on his own.

I think now's the time to make Page pure babyface, Omega pure heel, and the Bucks as tweeners who can go either way depending on the situation. Either that or you have the original heel version of the Elite as Omega and the Bucks.
I also think when Cody comes back, he'll be back as a face. They were building towards a slow burn heel shift with some of his mannerisms, but that asskicking by Lee was so humbling that I can't see him come back as anything but a face now.

This is long term booking, I think they've been thinking about this for years, and Covid kind of stopped what they were planning. I really do think, running a wrestling company is really, really hard, and they have to book around so much negativity and critique. So they have to do some work as a heel, and tweening, because it's easier to deal with all the bullshit involved. In a day where Kayfabe is dead, it's almost impossible being a face booker. You are damned if you do, you are damned if you don't. So some heeling is necessary, but they still have a ton of fans. And just thinking about it, without crowds, who even knows what realty outside of youtube/twitter is? So everyone is heel, because in reality, everything is kind of stressful and heelish in the real world? And things are complicated? Right?
