And apparently we’re already only three more episodes away from the next Takeover, just announced for October 4.

With the women opening I guess one of the title matches is both main eventing and also changing hands.

I'm curious about who Io is gonna face at Takeover. Will it be Rhea? Will it be Raquel? Or will Shotzi get a surprise victory tonight and earn herself a title match at Takeover?

I'd like to see a Shotzi surprise win and have her be Io Takeover opponent While I wouldn't be shocked if Shotzi wins tonight, I find it hard to believe as well unless its a fluke rollup. Io has only been pinned once since her makeover, and it was a dirty pin by Charlotte Flair. It would also seal Shotzi's fate at Takeover, because the odds of her becoming champion are pretty much 0. I mean the same applies to Raquel as well, odds wise. Rhea is the only person who could feasibly take the title from Io in October, but it would be a very bad idea, especially with Io pretty explicitly mentioning in her interviews with Japanese outlets shortly after winning the title that she was pissed that WWE won't give her time in the main spotlight. They screwed her over at Survivor Series (Rhea got all the credit), and she missed the Royal Rumble (where according to her, she was going to be pretty much in Bianca's place).

You can't help yourself with Rhea can you? She has nothing to do with this but I digress In regards to Io/Shotzi, this won't be a clean win but none the less the visual of Shotzi getting a fluke win is still big for her and adds a little chip in the armor of Io

I don’t even think Ripley would be that much of a chance, to be honest. She’s gotta be main roster bound sooner rather than later, and any title match would only serve to have Ripley put over the dominant champion Shirai as she leaves the territory.
As talented as the division is, it’s hard to get a read on who the next likely champion actually IS going to be. Assuming it’s from the heel side, nobody has really broken out from the pack to me at the moment in the sense of “That person is DEFINITELY winning it soon”, the same way Shirai herself did when she got repackaged. The closest would probably actually be Blackheart, but she’s babyface.

IMO no one is taking the title off of Io untill the Candace feud because if HHH booking patterns mean anything here is that he is doing a full circle thing here where Io rose to god-tier status at the demolishing of Candace and now he will elevate Candace through Io although like a good story it is all in the finer details.
Io got where she is now when she focused on doing it on her own.
Candace is likely to do it by getting help from everywhere she can get it from.
They only got 3 shows left till Takeover so would not surprise me if Shotzi gets the shock win tonight or someone like a Raquel interferes which then gets bring out Rhea and we get a 4 way at Takeover.

She's one of three potential people who will be able to face Io at Takeover. So yes, she's relevant to the conversation of who could face Io soon. Especially with Rhea beating Mercedes last week. As for Shotzi getting a surprise pin, while it would be a good visual for her, it wouldn't last long considering Io would likely roll her at the actual Takeover. They've also been incredibly protective of Io, way more than any other woman on the NXT roster. She's basically the final boss of the division, and rightfully so, as she's their best performer right now, and treated as a special attraction. I don’t even think Ripley would be that much of a chance, to be honest. She’s gotta be main roster bound sooner rather than later, and any title match would only serve to have Ripley put over the dominant champion Shirai as she leaves the territory. It’s hard to get a read on who the next likely champion actually IS. Assuming it’s from the heel side, nobody really stands out to me at the moment in the sense of “That person is DEFINITELY winning it soon”. I have to agree with Rhea should be called up soon. She is desperately needed on Smackdown. Either to face Sasha when she wins the title, or if Bayley for some godforsaken reason retains, facing her instead. Because as it stands, Smackdown is almost completely devoid of credible women to face Sasha and Bayley. Io could also be called up, but I can't see her being treated properly, especially after how poorly Kairi was handled, when she was pretty much a slam dunk of "top pure babyface".

Wouldn't surprise me at all if Io goes through every major player in the NXT Women's division(Tegan, Dakota, Candice, Shotzi, Rhea) and then drops the title in a multi-person match. As for this coming Takeover, I think Io's facing Rhea and that'll be the swan song for Rhea before she gets drafted to either Smackdown or Raw.

Pretty much if the plan is Rhea/Io at Takeover, whoever loses is likely getting called up. And I am much more confident in Rhea being handled better on the main roster than Io would be. Hence me wanting Io to retain the title for as long as possible. I have zero faith in her being treated well on the main roster.

Would be stupid not to start investing on Shotzi as champion.

I would be shocked if Io is ever called up to the main roster before Rhea because of how they have set the table for atleast the rest of the year for Io's reign.
Rhea Raquel Candace
Have all been or are being set up(in the case of Candace) to be her next challengers.
Rhea is being set up to IMO win next years womens royal rumble...likely with her and Charlotte as the final two.

But the problem is that NXT has been more or less hotshotting pretty much every title in an attempt to pop a rating. So it would absolutely not shock me to see them put the title back on Rhea in another attempt to pop a temporary large viewership number. Problem is, all of the titles feel significantly less prestigious than they did around this time last year. Hell, ratings are just starting to rebound after the complete failure that was Charlotte's second "stint" in NXT. Wrestlenomics has a chart of ratings for NXT, and they cratered in mid February 2020 all the way until May, and have been steadily increasing since IYH. In unrelated news:

Those two announcements: 1. WAR 2. GAMES On a serious note, there better be an NXT spin-off game coming soon since their roster was left out of Battlegrounds.
