I wouldn't judge based on a single game against the hapless Giants.

I wouldn't judge based on a single game against the hapless Giants. I've been saying that exact thing ever since Super Bowl 42.

I'm just remembering that the new playoff format is a thing. I guess it's not terrible, but I thought the old setup was perfect. I don’t like the addition of a seventh playoff team in each conference, because 99 times out of 100, that’ll be an undeserving, 9-7ish Wild Card team that’ll be nothing more than cannon fodder for a division champion to roll over en route to the Divisional Round. But what I do like is the value it imparts on winning the top seed in each conference, as now only one team in the AFC and one team in the NFC get a first-round bye, so the race for the first seed is going to be an all-out, season-long brawl to week 17. (I also like the idea of watching six games in two days on Wild Card weekend) Well, that additional Wild Card team will probably be more deserving of a playoff spot than whichever team makes it out of the NFC East.

On paper, tonight should be an absolute bloodbath of a game.
So, it'll end up being a 13-9 snoozefest. LOL

Is it just me or is Belichick like, much happier this season than he usually is? If he is, it's probably two-fold: 1. With a mobile quarterback in Cam Newton, he and Josh McDaniels can get much more experimental every Sunday, whereas with a pocket passer in Tom Brady, the game plan was etched in stone from the moment OTAs started. I think back to week 3 of the 2016 season when a rookie Jacoby Brissett started against the Texans and the Patriots offense basically broke out the veer, the flexbone, the triple-option, and every other formation you could possibly think of en route to a 27-0 victory in which they ran for 185 yards and threw for only 97 yards. Now with Cam in place, every Sunday is different than the last. Against the Dolphins in week 1, they ran for 217 yards. In Seattle the next week, they aired it for 397 yards. On Sunday against the Raiders, it was a more balanced approach. They now have a weapon at quarterback they've never had, and they're able to keep their offense unpredictable, and Belichick, as a student of the game (and a scholar of Navy football, which is known for mobile quarterback play), probably relishes that. 2. He doesn't have to deal with the jackals in the local sports media in person (they're all on teleconference), so that alone probably gives him the warmest, fuzziest feeling he's probably had since he hoisted the Lombardi Trophy at the end of Super Bowl LIII.

Also: 3. Those Subway subs can be a refreshing pick-me-up. Btw, not-so-fun fact: The Bengals have won a grand total of 2 games dating from October 29th, 2018 to today. (A span of 700 days total.)

6-8 weeks for Jordan Reed. At least it wasn’t a concussion.

Smart pick would be on either Green Bay or Seattle to win the Super Bowl. Plenty of glaring weaknesses on the AFC's top teams while Green Bay's offense can keep pace with other top offenses if the Saints game is any indication, and Seattle may be the closest thing to a perfect team this season.
