Agreed that that Dx Vs BoD match was godawful

Taker vs Goldberg was worse
And smart thinking on Jericho. The match will be bad anyway tho on the flip side I don't think that would stop him doing a match with Tyson or another celeb

Good, I love that Jericho continues to look forward and not back.

For me, Jericho is one of those guys who is completely insufferable. But he makes a lot if sense, so it’s hard to discredit him totally.

Even if you dislike Jericho hes 100% right about this one. Focusing on dinosaurs fighting each other instead of bringing the new guys to their level is going to kill WWE some day.

Eh I consider the Saudi legends matches to be non canonical. Yeah, basically, it's just cash cow stuff to appease the guy paying the bills. Jericho isnt wrong that it's absolutely right to build new stars and to push them, but nostalgia sells as long as it's done sparingly or for a very specific reason.

Yeah, it definitely always should be present day star versus old veteran in most cases. What's the point if you don't add any freshness into 'em. Kinda see that match working only in Cinema Mode.

The place for nostalgia should be in torch passing and building on the past to push into the future. Jericho's instincts here are sharp; yes, he was the veteran talent getting the inaugural run with the belt, but he surrounded himself immediately with younger talent, built a character around his midlife crisis, and put over plenty of younger talent since. The winner between DX and BOD didn't matter because nobody was going to do anything with that. Wrestling is a constantly running story and everything that happened before matters to everything to happen in the future. That match was a dead end, and a Hardy vs. Jericho match wouldn't be too much better. WWE long lost sight of that fact and it's a lot of why they're in the position they are.

It reminds me that technically they gave Braun Strowman the biggest accolade of his career this year and never noticed. Not the title. The fact they had him squash Goldberg, who has been portrayed throughout most of the last 22 years as an unstoppable force and wrestling myth. It should have been a Vader squashes Inoki level big deal but it forgotten almost immediately.

They like the quick pay day a nostalgia pop can bring, but they never think about how that impacts on others, or if they have the older star squash the young ones, how it can really hurt their new stars. It's always money for WWE these days, and while I absolutely respect that, it does come at the detriment of the product and the regular talent. I do think HHH gets that, because it's definitely not something we see in NXT, but by the same token, it's not something we are likely to as legends arent going to want to go there.

I can understand why they rationalized D-Generation-X Vs The Brothers of Destruction. In hindsight, it is so, so depressing Shawn broke his retirement for an embarrassment.

I disagree with him bringing up Hunter/Michaels vs Taker/Kane, it's not like this closed out WM or something, it was a glorified house match requested by someone who shelled out a lot of cash to see it. Overall though, he's totally correct, we want to see new matches, give new guys the rub of being in there with a legend, I don't want to see a match I saw a decade ago.

Jericho's run in AEW has been incredible. He used his star power to get tons of guys over and I don't think other vets would have been willing to do that. You can hate on him all you want but ask yourself how many guys who've had a career like Jericho would spend the end of their career putting over a guy like Orange Cassidy? Can you picture HHH, HBK, Undertaker or anyone else of that caliber taking a bump into a huge vat of mimosa to put a new guy like that over, especially without getting the win back or making him look bad after the match?
He's absolutely correct about this. WWE took their hall of fame guys and made sure no one ever makes the mistake of thinking the current guys today are on their level. 55 year old Goldberg is still the big boss for most people. HHH, HBK, and Undertaker are still put over young guys all the time. In AEW they use the legends to put over the next generation. They have a ton of hall of fame level guys there that are being used as managers and helping get new guys over. It's really awesome to watch. I haven't watched WWE in months but I don't miss a Dynamite. It's a breath of fresh air.

Great to hear from a vet.
Jericho has been working to put over younger/newer talent in the ring, on the mic, at the commentary booth, etc.
He believes in the product, and wants to give back, so the future may thrive.

I think they could make a Cinematic style Hardy Compound thing work really well, but Jericho's right on this one from a pure match standpoint. They should be in multi mans potentially around one another, but they're best served to be fighting other younger talent to help elevate them

Jericho has one of the best minds in the business. He checks his ego at the door and doesn't care about wins and losses.
That's how it should be.
Wrestling is a performance and the real winners are those who make the most money.
