Penn Jilette who was very close to him has confirmed the magician and skeptic has died.
The guy for decades did a lot to debunk frauds and charlatans and inspire critical thinking.
RIP sir.

Inevitably some nutball will claim that Nostadamus predicted this.
RIP James.

Always had a lot of respect for him, he was never afraid to call BS when he saw it...
Rest in peace, sir.

I saw him on a "Dateline" style news program when I was a kid. A lot of the reporting went over my head, but I vividly remember him explaining how they would test a man's claim that he can fly: just have them step out the window and see what happens.
Made perfect sense to kid me and I've been a fan ever since. RIP.

2020 can just piss off.
James Randi, George Carlin, and Michael Schumer all inspired me to question most things. I absolutely loved James Randi and his debunking of different people who have made a fortune preying on people's fears and hopes (read Sylvia Browne, John Edward, etc.).

One of my biggest heroes. I'll miss him.
I'm not sad. Dude lived his life on his own terms, survived cancer, made himself a great name in a very small space and inspired countless people. Dude lived to 92. We should all be so lucky. He really was "Amazing".
A quote from him on dying:
"One day, I'm gonna die. That's all there is to it. Hey, it's too bad, but I've got to make room. I'm using a lot of oxygen and such—I think it's good use of oxygen myself, but of course, I'm a little prejudiced on the matter."

Oh no. I knew of him specifically from Penn Jillette bringing him back as part of his old P&T:BS! show.
