The guilty pleasure’s thread shows we like angles that were generally disliked, let’s flip the script and talk popular angles we didn’t like!
There is one that sticks out for me, and it’s KofiMania. I didn’t like a second of the journey. New Day is to put it nicely annoying, Kofi is my least favorite of the group by quite a bit so I had no emotional pull for him, it got even worse when the whole thing began because my guy Ali got a badly timed black eye, and it ended one of my favorite heel title runs in recent memory with Champion of the Planet Daniel Bryan.
I didn’t even watch the WM match because I knew what was coming, and made no effort to watch SD following the title change. I could / should put Brock squashing the crap out of him in my “Guilty Pleasures” list because I still laugh about it.
There’s plenty of other ones (anything with Otis) but that one stands far and beyond anything else. I straight up hated all of it.

Hate is a strong word but this whole thing has always been meh for me. The Mania matches were fire but I have never been a fan of the "Yes movement"

That's vindictive cause ya mans caught a black eye lol

Nexus.
People talk like it's a travesty that they didn't make it all the way to Wrestlemania but I was tired of them by Summerslam. Every show for months ended with their almost robotic looking beatdown segment (Ryback clothesline then Gabriel hesitating for 30 seconds before the 450 then Barrett finishing it off with his weak looking move). Heath Slater was getting pinfall wins over people like John Cena, Edge and Chris Jericho. It was a good meme but wins over guys like that should be saved for potential main event players not wasted like that.
Once Bryan left there was only one of them who was above average in the ring (Gabriel) and one who was above average on the mic (Barrett). It was a bunch of guys who were low-level developmental talent and they were dominating the show for 6 months. Barrett had a good match with Cena at Hell In A Cell but other than that he was stinking up the joint. His pay-per-view main events with Orton were all-time bad. Groups like Evolution and The Shield at least had good matches. Nexus was a chore to watch outside of a few matches/segments.

^^^ I’m pretty sure the 450 was the exclamation point following The WadeSlam. But yeah, I see that.

I didn't like Steve Austin vs. Vince.
Even as a kid it was clear to me that Vince was a guy trying to run a business who happened to be saddled with a talented but extraordinarily uncooperative employee. A lot of the audience apparently saw themselves in the guy fighting tooth and nail against his boss, I couldn't help but see myself eventually having a role where I'd have to corral a guy like this.
Then I grew up and had a management role for a long time and hated it. Past was eerily prologue.

Hate is a strong word but this whole thing has always been meh for me. The Mania matches were fire but I have never been a fan of the "Yes movement" I feel like it's a perfect encapsulation of a WWE meta angle where the angle itself is kind of trash, and it only works because the fans are rooting for the actual performer against the actual managerial obstacles against him. Yeah, they turned that into the angle, and I was caught up in it at the time, but looking back it's galling to consider how little of what made that angle work is actually in the narrative as opposed to the metanarrative.

I liked The Rock more as a heel than a face. So most of what Rock did from 2000-2002 was pretty meh to me. I thought he was hard to sympathize since he always acted like a jerk.
Why was I still a huge fan during the Attitude Era? Because they had such an awesome midcard during those days. Even when Jericho turned heel at the end of 2001, I was still rooting for him over The Rock.

Hate is a strong word but this whole thing has always been meh for me. The Mania matches were fire but I have never been a fan of the "Yes movement" With me it's different. While I was a fan of the whole "Yes Movement" character, this whole part in the storyline was just idk, yeah goofy might be it but alas, I could get past it. What I don't like is the whole "super mega popularity" of that Bryan character. Sure, I think it's great people like him but people overrate that Bryan so much that they want him to return to that character and think it's the best version of him. Even beyond his whole heel Planet's Champion character, even beyond his "ok I'm back but I'm more ruthless now" character, I mean the guy's so creative and yeah that Bryan was dope but he's better than that. He's not stuck on it like fans are just because he was put at the top of the world. It's like people think whoever is at the top of the totem pole, whatever character they're in at that point is their best character when nah, that's just when the company slapped that gold on em.

Heath Slater is a way better wrestler than anyone on the planet gives him credit for. He's definitely above average and that's a big reason why Bret Hart exclusively worked with him at SummerSlam and the MSG house show he did or whatever that was.

Summer of Punk Straight Edge Society (guess I'm not a big fan of Punk...) Nexus (from day one) Don't know whether it was popular, but Santina.

Heath was so f***ing wasted when he got traded to Raw, after becoming one of the most popular acts on SDL.

Agreed. I just never cared for the Yes character The movement was more so the man than the character but luckily for him, he's got something he can milk for the rest of his life and make top dollars off of. At this point in his career it is a lazy character but it is what the executives want so why fight it. He got his Captain Planet run and he may have one more thing up his sleeve before he leaves but yeah that angle and that character I was not feeling it
