Top 5 female wrestlers for 2020 1.Davienne-There isn't many female wrestlers that can have a convincing match against a male, but Davienne is one that can. Been following her career since 2014. Hoping in 2021 she will become a household name with wrestling fans all over the world. 2.Heather Monroe-This uber talented lady is finally getting known outside of the people that watch CWFH. In ring she reminds me of Madusa/Alundra Blaze. On the mic she is a lot like Sherri Martel. 3.Kamille-WOW imagine if the Steiners had a sister that wrestled. That is Kamille. Double Plus tough. And can work well against any style of wrestler. 4.Kennedi Copeland-First time I saw Kennedi wrestle I thought OK she is decent but needs some work. Then I saw her match against Logan Black!! WOW this was a brutal back and forth match. Kennedi used her speed and martial art skills to counteract Black's size and stength advantage. 5.Alex Gracia-I had seen MS Gracia a few times on ROW events. But it wasn't until I saw her live that I saw how well rounded she is. She is one that you can tell tries her best to improve with every match.

My personal picks, Sorry it's all joshi but that's just what you get with me lol;
1. Yoshiko: Just an amazing flurry of great matches that continue to rotate through my match of the year choices. Somehow in one year became the most popular joshi in Japan and the only one with mainstream following. Her current team with Sareee really feels like an all-time great team and it feels special/rare to see that play out. All in on the hype train, personal favorite so a lil biased lol.
2. Arisa Nakajima: She's probably my pick for the decade, but she's had a stellar year in just making everyone she wrestles in big matches look like a million bucks. She's probably my favorite "big match" wrestler, in that if there is a title on the line you pretty much know the match is gonna be a belter.
3. Suzu Suzuki: Your company has to have a lot of faith in you to pass on the ace torch to you at the age of 18 and have you beat the unpinnable ace, but that's what Ice Ribbon did with Suzu. I give her extra credit for retiring a character/gimmick she had that was super over, doing something else, and having it work. Her title win against Yukihi is a great match.
4. Takumi Iroha: Up until her unfortunate injury, I think she was being poised as a bit of an ambassador from the non-Stardom joshi to Stardom, like opening up barriers for possible future crossover. She's an absolute ace-level talent and I kinda hope Nyla's friendship with her would translate to an AEW appearance in the future. Both her matches against Mayu Iwatani this year are must watch imo.
5. ASUKA (the non-WWE one): I don't think I've ever been this high on a young wrestler, I really think we're a year or two away from talking about her as the best. As a freelancer she doesn't get into super juicy feuds, but it's helped her develop interesting rivalries/alliances across multiple companies. I think WWE/AEW/Stardom will all be fighting over signing her sooner than later.

I have liked her for a bit but she did not really shoot up to my favs untill the 5star GP few years ago where she was IMO the MVP of the tournament with absoloute MOTY bangers with Kagetsu and Utami which I definetly reccomend to seek out if you want to get into watching some Jungle matches.

I feel like I need to watch more TJWP to properly judge it but my top list for sure would involve Asuka,Io,Shida and Yuka.
Like I really want to add a non-japanese wrestler to the list but I really cant think of anyone else I would put above some of the girls in TJPW or Stardom.I'm not even saying they are bad, these girls are just that good

my personal favorites (which could change depending on my mood at any given time) 1. Syuri (Stardom) 2. Arisa Nakajima (SEAdLINNNG) 3. Yoshiko (SEAdLINNNG) 4. Meiko Satomura (Sendai Girls') 5. Konami (Stardom)
If you are judging US/Canada, the top five based on push/impact might be: 1. Bayley (SmackDown Women's Champion for most of the year; WWE Women's Tag Team Champion for much of the year) 2. Io Shirai (NXT Women's Champion for much of the year) 3. Asuka (Raw Women's Champion for much of the year; WWE Women's Tag Team Champion for part of the year; Money in the Bank winner) 4. Sasha Banks (SmackDown Women's Champion; Women's Tag Team Champion) 5. Hikaru Shida (AEW Women's Champion for much of the year)
In Japan, it might be something like this (based on how I view the top promotions): 1. Mayu Iwatani (World of Stardom Champion for most of the year) 2. Giulia (Wonder of Stardom Champion for most of the year; Cinderella tournament winner; Artist of Stardom Champion) 3. Yuka Sakazaki (TJPW Princess of Princess Champion for most of the year) 4. Takumi Iroha (Was champion in SEAdLINNNG, the ace of Marvelous, and title challenger in Stardom) 5. Utami Hayashishita (won World of Stardom Championship late in the year, also won Tag League and Goddess of Stardom Championships)
I didn't pay enough attention to Mexico, and the lucha scene was heavily impacted by Covid. I'd say Lady Shani, Princess Sugehit, Faby Apache, Lady Maravilla, Big Mami, Keyra, Reyna Isis, La Hiedra would be among the top women.

The series with Giulia really took both ladies up a notch. Strike while the iron is hot with Tam.

Yuka Sakazaki and Mizuki had my match of the year at Wrestle Princess. Mei Suruga is doing great work both in ChocoPro and her lookalike in TJPW Mei Saint-Michel has been powerful and great. Maki Itoh continues to be the main character of professional wrestling.
And I need one more, sure Emi Sakura for organizing ChocoPro and being a great heel for a fun wrestling experience.
edit: Maybe Hyper Misao for her performance art pieces this last couple of months.

In ring, I'd say Asuka, Io Shirai, Rhea Ripley, and Jordynne Grace.
Character wise, I would say Bayley, Sasha Banks, Alexa Bliss, and Anna Jay.

Just from what I watched/my VERY basic opinion:
1. Bayley 2. Asuka 3. Thunder Rosa 4. Io Shirai 5. Sasha Banks
Gotta give an honorable mention to Priscilla Kelly. That match she had with Thunder Rosa was one of the best matches of the year. I couldn't believe how much she had improved since the last time I saw her.

Just wanted to use this space to say Jungle Kyona's piledriver on Natsuko Tora through a table was insane! (Then Konami turning on her partner with a chair broke my heart.)

Rosa vs Kelly was so close to making my top 5 matches list.I was surprisingly good. A bit over 4 years ago,April and July of 2016,A buddy went up to North AL for a lucha show. Both times he filmed Kelly vs Kiera Hogan. Rosa's another that is it great to see she is getting seen by more people. She was suppose to work a lucha show in MS back in 2019,but it got changed to Ajenadro Lion vs Rokelle Vaughn. Out of all the WWE women the only one I just dont care for at all is Flair. The rest, that I have seen, are at least decent in the ring. Flair... yea she is just skip this match for me.
