Heres the thing is it 50 or more random matches or is it actually going to mean something like a points based tourney?

paid for their show tonight and I've been able to watch about half of it, so no, f*** this nonsense, get your house in order then maybe justify my purchase.

How Warholian!
Good question about what the longest pro-wrestling show of all time was. I vaguely recall hearing shows in the depression era and earlier would last 8-13 hours at times. I want to say there was a Coca-cola ad in the back of the WWF Magazine issue from May '96 with Jake on the cover that discussed how long events were back then, but I don't recall a show ever going 24 hours straight.

I didn't have a single issue with the FITE stream last night.

I know they wanted “100% ownership” of their video footage, but sometimes it’s worth splitting the profits for the sake of knowing you have a reliable setup and crew. As above. There was nothing wrong with the production. I was watching 3500 miles away on another continent and didn't get a single glitch. There were things about the show last night that I would gladly accept could be complained about, neither the production nor the stream were among those things.

Fite is usually good about their service. I'm a fan of the service. I use it at least once a week as it's how I watch AEW and can honestly say I've only ever had one major issue with them which was ALL-IN when they seemingly got overwhelmed by the sheer amount of people watching.

So there were no production errors at all? Good to hear. Certainly not with the stream not working etc.

The most hilarious production gaffe from last night was when a champagne cork hit the sound booth, causing the ring bell sound effect to play after a two count.

I didn't see the show. Did they try to do anything with the finish of the main event coinciding with the clock striking midnight? That was the major f*** up of the night. They messed up their timings in anticipation for matches overrunning and them missing midnight and were left with 25 minutes to fill before they could do the main event as the first match of the year. By that point it was rapidly approaching 5AM here so I must admit I went to bed in a minor huff as the prospect of not getting to bed until nearly 6AM didn't appeal.

This is kind of a neat idea, but at the same time how is anyone supposed to watch the whole thing? Even if you break it up over multiple days watching it on YouTube that's still like a season or two worth of binging a show in the time to watch one wrestling show.

And somehow Wrestlemania will still be longer.

You underestimate the number of wrestling fans willing to plan to stay awake for over 24 hours to watch wrestling. Hell, a lot of them do it already anyway. It may be a shocking discovery, but... believe it or not, in some regions of the world, ingestion of unhealthy foods, oftentimes alcohol consumption, and occasionally smizzoking of the marijuana have been known to accompany said lengthy wrestling watching sessions. Yeah, how many people are making preparations right now to stay up to some ungodly hour to watch WrestleKingdom? Or fans in Europe who routinely do the same to watch all the American shows?

Before everything with COVID and we were able to go to bars and watch wrestling shows...you can’t just go and watch WrestleMania if you live over here. You have to plan that stuff thoroughly or else you’re screwed for the rest of the week. With something like this? Like, since it’s free, you can watch a show and then skip some of it and watch another when you’re able to. It’s nowhere near that big a deal unless there’s a match you REALLY want to see at a certain time.

I'm morbidly curious how this will work. 24 Iron Man Matches? Guys working double duty under masks? Lots of skits and promos to pad the show?

I'm morbidly curious how this will work. 24 Iron Man Matches? Guys working double duty under masks? Lots of skits and promos to pad the show? A core group of GCW regulars and a few guests I would imagine in multiple match combinations. They're in their 'Performance Centre' which means no full on Death Matches if previous 'Performance Centre' shows are anything to go by so I imagine we'll see people pulling triple or quadruple duty over the 24 hours. GCW book a great variety of talent though so I'm excited to see who turns up.
