I am not buying the 3 hour show as an excuse when it doesn't seem like WWE is actually making the effort to book a decent show when they have a large enough roster to allocate people into feuds and such. Instead we get the same people in multiple segments every week and others sitting at home doing nothing Why are people like in the thread about missing people not even being used or sitting at home? This has been a problem even before the pandemic started like when there were people like Luke Harper/Brodie Lee and even Shawn Spears who stated they just wanted to be on TV given something to do. They may not use everyone but 3 hours is still just way too long for a weekly show. They used to do the special 3 hour Raws and they would be stacked and by the end of it I’d feel exhausted usually. That’s just not sustainable on a weekly basis when every week can’t be a “special” show. I DVR Raw and watch it by skipping filler type stuff and can usually watch it in about 1.5 hours which would be the length of a 2 hour show. Doing it that way Raw is 9 times out of 10 an enjoyable show.

I don't get why WWE just doesn't do something else with that 3rd hour. It does not HAVE to be apart of RAW. TNA had that post Impact show on Spike that helped develop characters. Do something like that
No one enjoys how long Raw is

Yeah, the three hours is network fiat and from all accounts, Vince personally hates it from a creative standpoint. They could probably do something a little more experimental with one of the three hours while booking the main Raw show with two hours in mind, but I have to imagine anything would have to pass muster with the NBCU suits first.

Still they haven't even tried changing things up, maybe experiment with something new, change the structure, the presentation of show hasn't changed much and doesn't feel fresh either. Dedicate an hour just for the women's feuds/matches or something.

Fox is probably just happy they have programming on Fridays that can consistently get over 2M viewers. Pretty much. Fox weren’t exactly clamoring for Smackdown to be on their network but they thought to take enough chance on it on Fridays to see what happens. They’d like the 4m WWE promised but it still does well demo wise where it’s not that big a deal. As mentioned by many others, Fox doesn’t need WWE but more eyes are on them, USA needs WWE regardless of the falling ratings. Plus, $2 million an hour for prime time network content is probably below average, price wise. And being able to claim victory most weeks on Fridays is worth the money for them.

Like, Fridays are so low stake right now they can just let things go as they are and still be like "Hey, our demo kind of rules". USA on the other hand would pretty much be percived as the "Old People's Channel" if they lost the one thing that gives them any kind of advantage in terms of younger watchers with all the NCIS and Law and Order re-runs.

I could be wrong about this, but I believe FOX executives are much more involved with Smackdown than USA is with Raw.

How are they both worse than NXT? Vince is how.

Everyone has rose colored glasses when viewing Smackdown. I could go weeks without watching and probably not miss anything.
