WWE Network officially lost the streaming wars to Impact Plus.

The actual press release says its free to current Network subscribers (who will just pay $4.99 a month), and that PPVs won't cost extra. The Network will still exist outside the US as well.

I get it but also...feels a bit more like retreating to a service with a bigger audience than actually trying to improve the one you have (and the Network has had a lot of problems the last few years).

This seems like it isnt a bad deal if you already have both services, and an extra you can ignore if you have Peacock and dont want WWE.
But if you want WWE and don't have Peacock, this is basically $4.99 a month increase for a bunch of content you have no interest in, as you'll have to subscribe to Peacock to get to WWE? Is that right? That seems like a surefire way to lose subscribers...
Or is there a WWE only option as well? If so, I dont see how this really changes anything beyond giving people a deal if they want both?

I figured this would happen eventually but with ESPN+, not Peacock.

From what was said, it’d be free if you already have the Network but you have to pay the $9.99 for Peacock. It’s not ideal but it’s not the worst outcome either.

Which operates under the assumption that you care about Peacock's (rather shitty) lineup.

Ah, I see now, OP has edited the OP and it makes more sense now.
I dont see how this is a problem then, it isn't costing you more than now and you get more shows/genres out of it.
Seems like a good deal for US subscribers?

Seems like a good deal for US subscribers? Think it’s the idea of needing a service to access another, and one that didn’t exactly have the best launch either. On the other hand, the NBC Universal library is one of the most extensive out of the big 4 companies with their own libraries so it’s not a bad deal. Just the optics might slightly put people off.

I'm worried that this may mean the end of classic content.

At least now I have an excuse to rewatch The Office.

I'm worried that this may mean the end of classic content. The lower volume of classic content per month on the network disappoints me. At the rate they are releasing a lot of stuff I'll probably be close to retirement or something lol

I'm at work and the link is blocked, which is odd considering this message board isn't, but...... So is the WWE Network app going away and you have to access the Network through Peacock going forward? If so, that saves me $9.99, but like was said.... I'm sure PPVs are eventually going to be extra. I'm not sure how I feel about this as now ads will probably be within the shows.

I'm worried that this may mean the end of classic content. Why? If anything, I kinda feel like this is more of an incentive to add MORE content sooner onto the Network. Because they don’t have to weirdly strategize the rollout anymore. They’re getting paid more money and they have a lot of presumably older fans baked into Peacock as it is. Seems like a no-brainer to continue promoting newly uploaded classic content to them, not unlike uh... The Munsters.

As I understand it, the ad-free Peacock version is the same price of the WWE Network.

Seems like a good deal for US subscribers? Yeah, sorry about that, early and was reading quickly. It does seem like it's a good deal for primary WWE Network content. I do think they're going to start charging a fee for some pay-per-views again, though. That'll be interesting to see play out.

So my (right this time) understanding is that it's $4.99 for Peacock with ads. If you spend the $9.99 a month, you get it without ads. There won't be ads within the shows if you go with the $9.99 tier of Peacock.
