As usual in Georgia, nothing nice, no snow at all, just drizzling shitty rain.

It’s currently 9 degrees with a wind chill of -6. It’s been snowing hard for about 5 hours. I’d say about 6-7 inches, so far. It’s supposed to snow for a couple more hours. Like I said in the OP, snows here are few and far between. I usually enjoy the brief changes of pace. But this sucks and they’re calling for more on Wednesday.

27 here. Got a few inches of snow last night with the lowest temp being around 10. On the plus side, didn't have to work last night nor do I have to tonight. Nice. Next check is gonna suck, but oh well.

Marylander here, it's been snowing on and off, but luckily it's not very much, only about 1-2 inches each time. Had some freezing rain that froze the sidewalks over a few days ago, but luckily it's been around the 40 degree mark, so it goes away fairly quickly. I do with it'd just stop, though. It looks like next week it'll finally clear up and we'll get some sun, so that might get rid of a lot of it.

Our Texas offices just kept going up and down due to power. Locally, it is finally supposed to start warming up tomorrow. It will be a balmy 12 degrees. Thankfully, it is snowing again right now.

Again here in Cincy, it’s not turning out to be quite the snow event first predicted, though it’s still a significant winter storm. We ended up having more sleet & ice than first expected. Snow totals now forecast to be about 3-5”, though the ice that fell is still creating significant road problems.
Of course, the scoffers on social media are calling out the local meteorologists. (Never mind that 3-5” of snow—with freaking ice—in this part of the country still makes for a treacherous situation.) I realize that the news media tends to hype things at times, but I truly believe the local forecasters were doing the best job they could on this with the data they had. And I’d like to see the scoffers try & do a better job. (I realize, though, that scoffing without accountability is the way of the Internet in 2021.)

Here in Kansas, I think that all of us would take 6 to 12 inches of snow over what we've got now, wind chills at 20 to 40 below zero.
It's been a mild winter, went through December without much, and January was down for Kansas. You knew that something was gonna happen, like Mordo said "The bill comes due."

So I live way out in the woods. Woke up this morning to find out my lady had lost power, she was headed to her parents until her power is back up. And that we had close to 2 inches of ice and snow on the ground.
Walked around outside and saw the minnow pond in the front part of the property appeared to be iced over.
The limb I throw I had found in the woods on the from 2 acres of the land.

I can't tell where the yard ends and everything else begins. And we're supposed to get MORE snow. This is gonna be bad for basements when it starts to melt.

It’s pretty bad in Texas. I had power off and and on all of yesterday and last night it went out at 10 pm and came back around 11 am. Austin has it even worse, close to half the city doesn’t have power. And I haven’t heard from any friends in Dallas which got hit hard.

The original expectations were 6-10" until early yesterday. That's when they revised the numbers to 11-15" and we landed right in the range of that at 12.4". For us up here, this is the second most significant snow system of the century (only 2014 beats it) and the fifth most significant of all time. Was at a Level 3 for about 11 hours today, only recently going down to a Level 2.

I'm in San Antonio, and I haven't seen this much snow here since 1985. On Sunday, I slipped on some ice and skinned my knee while checking on my car. My power kept cutting in and out all day yesterday, and went out completely last night around 7. It just came back on about 30 minutes ago.

Southwest Louisiana resident here, no power outage thankfully, and the snow is starting to melt.

Austin has it even worse, close to half the city doesn’t have power. And I haven’t heard from any friends in Dallas which got hit hard. The main problem in Texas is that there are no regulations forcing the utilities to have mechanisms in place for winterizing their power grid and therefore the utility companies simply just didn't do it. I understand that winters are typically mild in Texas, but these companies should be prepared all the same. It is possible. Wind turbines don't freeze in Antarctica or Norway, places famous for being cold. Natural gas pipelines feeding power plants don't freeze solid in Wisconsin, a place I can tell you from experience can get really cold. Having said that, I understand that they’ve managed to keep parts of their power grid running. Unfortunately, I’ve been led to believe that the priority is to keep corporate businesses running instead of powering residential areas. I do hope those reports are actually not accurate. That would be problematic. Sadly, dozens of people die each day as a result of the power issues and the numbers will accelerate the longer it goes on. If it goes on much longer, we will start to see diabetics start having serious health issues.

I can’t even get my mail delivered with this snow. I had a few packages that were supposed to be delivered yesterday that were marked with failed delivery messages stating that the mailman couldn’t get to my doorstep to deliver the packages. (Even though there was a very clear path from the parking lot to my apartment.) Went to the post office this morning and was told that they didn’t even have that many drivers yesterday so I’m starting to think the mailman never even stopped at my place.

Far as I know, they still have the moratorium on overtime, which was already slowing down the mail dramatically without weather being an issue. With the snowpocalypse, it would be even worse, especially for those seniors who get their meds through the mail.

This was Jersey at the beginning of the month. 1-2 feet, maybe more in certain places.
Luckily we didn't get any other big storms after, really. But some snow is apparently on its way tomorrow.

However, I did get something today, so I'm unsure if I just got nothing or if something was supposed to come or not. Update (and Edit): I did receive mail yesterday. Guess I checked before it got delivered.

The snowman my son made around New Year's Day is still around. The head no longer looks like a BB compared to the body. (My daughter kicked the head off one day, then made a snowball-sized head a few days later.) And now he looks like he's drowning in the 12+ inches we got over the past week.
