who are some guys that maybe flopped or struggled during their time on the roster that you feel like if they came along after or proior to their debuts, their fortunes may have changed?
I feel like if "Pirate" Paul Burchill would be one of the top indy guys around today in his prime. The crowds would eat it up, and he would probably do a killing in NXT or AEW.
Gunner Scott---Dude was basically a new Chris Benoit, he just happened to come at a weird time in the business, I could see if maybe he had come around maybe 7-8 years prior, or maybe 7-8 years later...him having a much bigger impact.
Lord Tensai---Is this gimmick debuts in 1990, and it was the guys first gimmick, I could see him being a top level heel-right there with Earthquake..prolly have a feud with Warrior/Hogan and get a few main even matches- i cant see it lasting a long time but it would have had some legs on it--u put Fuji with him, and maybe pair him with a debuting Yokozuna--would probably have worked
Ahmed Johnson- Prolly sounds crazy since he was terrible in the ring, and was a upper midcard bbabyface, and won the IC title, but i feel like it was a missed opportunity. If Ahmed Debuted today- u give him time in NXT and the PC to improve, I Could see him easily fitting into the Bobby Lashley role, and taking it to the next level. Dudes today are so much smaller, Ahmed would be a wreck machine and would stick out much more today..espically with the shape the world is in today- I think Ahmed today would be a world champion
Hotstuff Eddie Gilbert- i think this man, if he came around today would be one of the biggest heels in the business. Dude had the perfect wrestling figure for todays wrestling world. He could cut a promo like you couldnt believe, had flashing and appealing attire and could wrestle many different styles. I could see him being in the place the Miz is in these days. Few world titles, great on the mic.
I think the biggest star of them all, and this is going off of his time as a single stars in WWE--would be Scott Steiner. Could you imagine a 1991 Scott Steiner on the Indy's or in NXT? the things he could do, the size of him, and the charisma he had back then....Steiner would be one of the IWC'S favorite guys, and I could already imagine the matches he would have with the Aj Styles/Keith lee's/Roman Reigns/Seth Rollins.....
i could go on and on
