In a provocative move on his Youtube Channel Brian Zane has announced he will only review NXT moving forward. This is not an April Fools' joke he (he announced it two days ago on his site apparently) this is legit. I was surprised by his stance. I've been enjoying the stuff with Alexa Bliss and the Fiend along with some other stuff on (mainly) Smackdown. What do you guys think?

I love Brian Zane, I genuinely think he's one of the best reviewers and content producers on YT for wrestling stuff.
I dont quite agree with him here; I still think both shows have just enough to be worth watching - but in terms a whole view review, yeah maybe not.
He's be better off doing a month in review type video, before each PPV, then concentrate on AEW and NXT as he wants.
Just ignoring Raw and SD will likely make his PPV reviews a bit disjointed.

I can see why he'd stop reviewing Raw, though I do dig the Alexa/Orton stuff and Lashley, but I wouldn't say SD's that bad (just wildly inconsistent). It's his call, though.

It probably just became too much to review at once. He does regular reviews, he does old PPV reviews, new PPV's same day usually, NXT, AEW, and other videos sprinkled in... it'll probbaly be good for his own sanity if he cuts back a tad

I am surprised a long-time reviewer would make such a seemingly rash decision honestly.

One mans opinion but I’d rather watch Raw and SD over AEW.

I get it. I kind of took the Death of the Network (in its most recent form) as my own personal "Done with WWE" moment (at least for a while). I even fell away from NXT once it went live. When you don't enjoy watching the product anymore, you've got to walk away.
Even with SD being a bit better than it had been, they still trip up when they've got easy lay-ups (throwing away Nakamura's heat after making him look viable again) too much.

Sometimes you just realize the product is no longer for you, can't blame him
Seems like that'd kill his traffic, Which sucks because I really like Zane's reviews.

In the past, he's tried some other hosts for the Raw and SD reviews. The reaction from his regular viewers have been mostly negative. Seemingly, it's either Brian or nothing.
And they're getting their wish. Nothing it is.
I'm more saddened by Ross Tweddell ending his WTF videos for Raw and SD over at Cultaholic. He says it's due to a drop in viewership. But his WTF videos still get more views than most of the Graded or "What Happened At" videos.

I feel dumber watching AEW because of the real lack of ring psychology/storytelling. I feel dumber watching Raw because it’s an endlessly long slog of a show and most of the matches are usually tirelessly long and with no purpose in having them.

Eh, from my experience of seeing people doing side content from their regular ones, as long as people are doing their regular stuff, people are still going to watch. I’m not saying there won’t be a drop but likely to most of his audience, if it isn’t affecting Wrestling with Wregret, they won’t care.

I didn't see the announcement, but seeing as I find him to be the most objective voice of the iwc, I think he's just burnt out with the work load and not really shitting on quality. He isn't one who'd regularly vote for a show to be a 1 or a 10 lol. With Nxt/AEW it's probably fun to see who has the better show. RAW/SD would just be too much work for no real purpose.

AEW lacks in ring psychology and storytelling? Literally this week alone Christian/Kaz told a hell of a story. The thing about AEW is they have matches that are all different, they have high flying spotfests, they have technical clinics, they have all out brawls, and they're very good at selling the feuds they're in or the matches they have to do. Yeah there are plenty of fast paced matches where you can say a lot of big moves are happening, but AEW's showcased itself as much more than that imo.

Sometimes you have make decisions for your own health. Pretty much this. Like, I knew this was coming and, well, dude’s given me enough laugh for years where if this is what he has to do, he has to do it. He’s got a family and a managerial career to get back to when things open up so hey, go for it. For the record, I don’t really watch anything outside of the WWW episodes and the Retro Reviews (glanced at his NXT/AEW reviews once in a while but they aren’t required) so this really doesn’t affect me at all.

We must watch completely different AEW's because the one I watch has some of the best in-ring psychology and storytelling in all wrestling.
