I'd say I'm well within my rights to think that most of us watch quite a bit of shoot interviews on here. Just curious to see who everyone likes watching.
I've been a huge fan of just about all of Kevin Nash's, as he's a phenomenal story teller with a great insight to some pretty awesome times in wrestling.
One of my new found favorites, and someone who has really made me a new fan is Sean Waltman. It's really a giant f***ing shame that the term "X-Pac heat" is a thing because if you catch this guy in his later, better years you can tell he is one hell of a stand up dude. Owns up to literally every single mistake he made, and never tries to drag anyone down. I wish he was young enough for another full run in AEW or something. He should go down as one of the most underrated stars of all time.
In his time in the New-Gen Era of WWF, he was the measuring stick on who should stay and who should go. That needs to be highlighted in history more than his personal problems, IMO.

I liked the recent Jimmy Valiant shoot with RF. I don't really like full shoots but a friend of mine sent me this DVD as I am friends with Jimmy, as I mention on occasion and even though he doesn't really understand what a "shoot" is like a Nash or Honkytonk do, it was just like I was listening to him on the phone but for 4 hours.
RF can't get too many questions in because Jimmy just keeps thinking of new subject matter himself. The only thing he even remotely said that could be considered "shoot" is where he said he disliked Freddie Blassie messing with young Roddy Piper's bagpipes. He catches himself realizing this might not be seen as positive and explains himself because to him, it was being negative towards Freddie and he can't ever be negative. He is like the older former hippy version of Diamond Dallas Page-all positive all the time.

I love Jim Cornette's shoot interviews since he has kept records of about every match, finish, payoff, gate, male/female fan ratio, weather conditions, meal, expense, gas mileage, and alignment of the planet Mercury he's been involved in since 1982. Even if you despise the guy and his views of wrestling today, it is amazing insight when he can flip through a notebook and just rattle off, "Oh here we were in Charlotte in November of 85 where we did a 65k house with a 750.00 payoff and went 30 minutes broadway with the Rock and Roll in the semi-main." And then have some story of why that was significant, i.e. it was the first time they touched in JCP or something like that.

I really like the one Godfather did, because it's 2 hours of him chilling talking about how he loves everyone and everything involved with pro-wrestling and how he'd never had a bad experience (also, he smoked a lot of weed) - and then, he gets asked about Kevin Dunn - "I hate that guy!"
Imagine how bad you must be for the one guy who loves everyone to hate you!

I also think Cornette's were always fun, and it's a shame that he's pivoted to being a podcast shitlord because his stories were great and his insight was always valuable even if he hadn't progressed since about 1983.
The Insane Clown Posse's was good too, because it was basically the insight of two fans who found their way inside, so their view of it was totally different to most wrestlers. That was really interesting.

Cornette is great when purely sticking to history, the guy is on par with Meltzer as a walking encyclopedia of wrestling. Such a shame that his "Old Man Yells At Cloud" gimmick is most if the content he churns out now.

If I see a video of anything Cornette, Nash or Honkytonk Man related then i'm clicking the play button faster than the speed of light.

Cornette is a great historian and story teller but that shit he does is a tired "gimmick" and he can f*** off. His gimmick and real life self aren't too far apart from each other
But yes, Cornette is very good in that setting and I like Nash for his snarky ass responses. Haven't really watched any in a few years with the rise of podcast tho as the next form of shoot interviews in a sense

Honkytonk man said Rick Rude killed himself cause he injected drugs and they had to amputate his 'Ravishing' part, if you get my point. So I'll pass on a lot of Honky stuff on youtube

He might have reached that territory where one becomes a parody of themselves.

So I'll pass on a lot of Honky stuff on youtube I must admit I enjoy them all for varying reasons. Cornette for his encyclopaedic knowledge, Nash for his sarcastic straight talking and Honkytonk man for acting like a crazy old drunk in the bar telling tall tales.

Even though I'm sure he doesn't know as much, or keep up with most of the new stuff, I'd say Cornette has forgot more about wrestling than Meltzer ever knew.

From what I've seen, Rick Steiner and Stevie Ray come across as genuine, no-BS down to earth types.

Jim Cornette and the Honky Tonk Man are what got me into shoot interviews and I used to buy everything and anything with their names on it from RF Video.
I really liked the shoot interview Kevin Kelly (wwf announcer) did and the one Jim Neidhart did with RF Video. Both guys were good story tellers. The one Neidhart did with Bret Hart was a let down since Bret did the bulk of the talking.

But Corny for the most part seems to be one of the straightest shooters in regards to history. Not talking his opinions. But if I want a lesson on the history of wrestling he may be the Go To Guy.

I am not a big follower of Shoot Interviews but has Ricky Steamboat done one?
Met the guy once & the guy has an encyclopedia of knowledge of the business in his head.
Had about 10-15 min with him. I had him give the Mrs. a quick education of how the old NWA worked with the champ doing 1 hour title matches from town to town etc.
Just hearing the stories flow & you can tell he enjoyed telling someone that didnt know but was enjoying listening was just a joy.
Not all shoots even have to be ( Tell us who was an asshole ). Someone like Steamboat just shooting on history would be a shoot I would enjoy.
You can actually see a sample of this if you remember his segment on the Fox Backstage show segment he was on from his house.
