{Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW}Great last two episodes, although the finale really didn't need to be two and a half hours long.
Russia subplot was awful, completely pointless to the plot and if you removed the whole thing from the show not a single thing would change.
Epilogue was also a bit too long, I thought they would end with the earthquake and Eleven trying to wake up Max but instead we got ten minutes of...that.
Eddie shredding on guitar to lure the bats was one of the most awesomely metal things I've ever seen.

{Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW}How i see it now is that "The Mind Flayer" is simply cosmic matter....we didn't create water but we can manipulate it into other things and bond it...That is what he was able to do. There is no second entity or being with an agenda called "the Mind Flayer". "The Mind Flayer" is Vecna using his powers and manipulating the black cloud particles into the spider monster we perceive to be The Mind Flayer. People are looking WAY into this like there is some heiarchy of evil characters and there is not. Henry was cast into the Upside Down which existed and has never seen man. Henry using his intelligence and special abilities was able to manipulate the resources in the Upside Down to grow stronger and more symbiotic with the environment. He is the leader and controller of the hive minded creatures and he is also the architect of "THE MIND FLAYER". Another resource and vehicle so to speak for him to fulfill his goal of ripping open the seams permanently and him continuing to consume. Very "IT" in spirituality

Whilst I love Vecna, I really dig the lovecraftian existential horror of the earlier seasons and that would undo that.

I’m just about to dive in to the final two episodes of season four, but I just had to get this off my chest.
There may be no character in all of entertainment who makes my eyes glaze over more than Eleven. Nothing about her storyline interests me, you couldn’t pay me to get remotely invested in the backstory that they delve into in episode 7, she’s the show’s Poochie (“Whenever Eleven’s not on screen, all the other characters should be asking, ‘Where's Eleven?’”), and she’s the ultimate “Get Out of Jail Free Card,” in that whenever a situation seems tenuous for the kids of Hawkins, they can just call on Eleven to rescue them.
Any time she’s on screen, in the “Rainbow Room” or in the NINA tank, it takes about 90 seconds before I’m looking for my phone because I’m bored with the scene.

Yeah the amount of plot armor is BAD, BAD in S4 Vol 2

Just finished the last episode of the season. LOOOOOOVED it. I agree with an earlier comment that the show feels different now - less quaint with higher stakes - but I feel the character relationships and whatnot are so strong at this point that it's still easy to get engrossed. {Spoiler}I was a complete ****ing mess at so many points in this episode. Eddie earning a spot in Valhalla with his incredible sacrifice, followed immediately by the utter heartbreak of Max's end. And even earlier with the conversation between Will and Johnathan; Will burst out crying pretty much at the same exact time I did. But yeah, loved it. God, the wait to season 5 is gonna suck.

I’m still trying to figure out why the last two were released separate from the first seven I’m still trying to figure out why the last two were released separate from the first seven Honestly, I want to know why episodes 8 and 9 were separated. If you’re going to go big, go all the way big. Aside from one thing in the waning moments of the episode, episode 8 was a total throwaway in the build to the season finale, with nothing of consequence happening, so why not just wrap it all into one colossal 3+ hour season finale? As for the final two episodes themselves… {Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW}Were the last two episodes really bad or was it just me? Both episodes felt like they padded the run times to the point of excess and, as has been my biggest complaint, Eleven was again the Poochie of the show, either being the topic of conversation when she’s not around or the savior when she is around.
Case in point: it’s difficult for any deaths to have any weight going forward after the Max “death” when Eleven can just come in and bring her back to life. So if a main character dies in season 5, I’ll just be waiting for Eleven to stroll in and save the day.
Season 5 really should only be like 4 episodes at most. It’s the town versus the Upside Down. That’s it, that’s what has been established. We don’t need 10 hour-long episodes to tell the story — it’s a fight for survival and there doesn’t need to be extended exposition like we saw in episodes 8 and 9 of S4.
Overall, I liked the season — but if I’m ranking the seasons from best to worst, it goes: 1, 3, 2, 4.

Can someone tell Stranger Things to calm the f*** down? There's no reason they need a 2 1/2 hour long finale. Especially with the how much filler they stretched out with the boring Russian prison story.

Yeah why didn't the creatures just go through the same hole in the floor that they kept going in and out of? When they came BACK to it there wasn't even a cover

I’m still trying to figure out why the last two were released separate from the first seven The last two episodes wouldn't have been ready for the initial release date so Netflix/the creators chose to do a staggered release instead of pushing the release date back. Allegedly, eps 8 & 9 were still being worked on this week so it went down to the wire. Personally, I'd have preferred if they had chosen to push the release date back instead of doing it this way. All I want from Season 5 is for Will to be happy. Stop making Will cry.

I actually do have some serious thoughts that I wanted to say {Spoiler}{Spoiler} First off, I loved and hated how much they laid it on thick with everyone doing emotional speeches of some kind to each other, basically laying every seed possible about who might live or die but I will say, sort of peaked with Steve where, like, he would basically say his entire future and in my head I'm going "STEVE, SHUT THE F*** UP, YOU'RE BASICALLY MAKING ME THINK YOU'RE DEAD!". It just shows how strong the characters are in this show, it'd be a tonne weaker without them.
Did also lead to a funny moment with me and my flatmate after Dustin and Eddie fought off some of the bats where he was winding me up about Steve.
FM: Aww, Dustin's got a new best friend! Me: Yay.......HEY!
On the flip side, as great as it was for Jonathan and Will to get a moment and Mike and Eleven to get a moment...there was no sign any of them were in danger (besides Eleven obviously) so I guess it was done to expand their characters? Cool but it also wasn't exactly the same stakes as anyone else.
This might not be a popular opinion but Hopper just isn't needed anymore. The fact his "death" lead to "Oh, he's in Russia somehow" annoyed me then and as much as their arc was fun, it never felt really needed? Like, ok, I get it, David Harbour is the second person in your credits and he's likely going to be back in the MCU at some point as Crimson Dynamo but when Netflix is basically ready to strap a rocket on Millie Bobby Brown's back and seem to have projects ready for a lot of the younger cast, he doesn't seem as needed besides to say you have him.
Also...Max should have died. It likely would have made the conversation between Mike and Will mean a bit more about her losing because there would be a substantial loss. Her being in a coma kind of comes off like Sadie Silk's got projects planned but they didn't want to write her off so decided to stick her on ice somehow until the Endgame style final episode where everyone has their moment. Besides that, gripping enough finale and looking forward to Season 5 when it airs. Just...stick to shorter episodes, please, Duffers.
