I'm just here to say that the standout characters of Season 4 are: {Spoiler} Max and Eddie Munson, with Robin a distant third.

I said earlier in the thread about the episode length but I’m just going to reiterate that point because damn near 2 and a half hours for one episode is ridiculous. I enjoyed it and it passed quite enough but still especially when you consider that really season 4 seems ultimately just a setup for season 5 {Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW} Max should have died. I was shocked when they did it but makes sense because one of the main cast really should have died by now
Of course I do like Max so I’d nominate Will or Mike for it please since they do pretty much nothing
I knew they were going to but still not happy they killed Eddie

I'd hate that tbh. Whilst I love Vecna, I really dig the lovecraftian existential horror of the earlier seasons and that would undo that. {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW}I agree but based on the way it was presented and the dialogue it really came across that way even though the fanbase is still trying to force "The Mind Flayer" as some separate being. Yeah that’s seems to be it. It seemed pretty clear about it with what they did

I actually do have some serious thoughts that I wanted to say {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler} First off, I loved and hated how much they laid it on thick with everyone doing emotional speeches of some kind to each other, basically laying every seed possible about who might live or die but I will say, sort of peaked with Steve where, like, he would basically say his entire future and in my head I'm going "STEVE, SHUT THE F*** UP, YOU'RE BASICALLY MAKING ME THINK YOU'RE DEAD!". It just shows how strong the characters are in this show, it'd be a tonne weaker without them.
Did also lead to a funny moment with me and my flatmate after Dustin and Eddie fought off some of the bats where he was winding me up about Steve.
FM: Aww, Dustin's got a new best friend! Me: Yay.......HEY!
On the flip side, as great as it was for Jonathan and Will to get a moment and Mike and Eleven to get a moment...there was no sign any of them were in danger (besides Eleven obviously) so I guess it was done to expand their characters? Cool but it also wasn't exactly the same stakes as anyone else.
This might not be a popular opinion but Hopper just isn't needed anymore. The fact his "death" lead to "Oh, he's in Russia somehow" annoyed me then and as much as their arc was fun, it never felt really needed? Like, ok, I get it, David Harbour is the second person in your credits and he's likely going to be back in the MCU at some point as Crimson Dynamo but when Netflix is basically ready to strap a rocket on Millie Bobby Brown's back and seem to have projects ready for a lot of the younger cast, he doesn't seem as needed besides to say you have him.
Also...Max should have died. It likely would have made the conversation between Mike and Will mean a bit more about her losing because there would be a substantial loss. Her being in a coma kind of comes off like Sadie Silk's got projects planned but they didn't want to write her off so decided to stick her on ice somehow until the Endgame style final episode where everyone has their moment. Besides that, gripping enough finale and looking forward to Season 5 when it airs. Just...stick to shorter episodes, please, Duffers. {Spoiler}To be honest, I think Eleven needed Hopper’s presence again because she was due for an emotional payoff after him being absent for so long and Vecna upping his threat.

They really should have split finale into multiple episides.
Csnt be arsed to watch for over 2 and a half hours, so had to stop around half way.
Note: The Master of Puppets scene was cool as f***

{Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW}It seems like Season 5 has set up Will to be the one that goes... but I've thought since Season 2 or 3 that Eleven is going to ultimately be the one to sacrifice herself for everyone else.

Maybe Paul Reiser's (if he's still around) since Brenner is gone, but that's about it.

{Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW}I was not at all a fan of Max in Stranger Things 4. I get that she went through her share of trauma with Billy's death at the end of season 3, but her entire arc for season 4 was "sulk all the time." We already have one of those characters in Will, we really don't need another.
Also, if I had to hear "Running Up That Hill" one more time, I was going to jam a Q-tip all the way into my ear canal.

God damn, Eddie was so f***ing annoying and cringe. I enjoyed the first season, but this has definitely been a show I’ve just been watching with mild interest since.

{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW}Also how did the crew still inside the upside down get back while the earthquake was taking place and the holes were opening? Well, there was the matter of a giant gate getting opened. I’m pretty sure Vecna escaped the same way.

I’m still trying to figure out why the last two were released separate from the first seven I’m still trying to figure out why the last two were released separate from the first seven Honestly, I want to know why episodes 8 and 9 were separated. If you’re going to go big, go all the way big. Aside from one thing in the waning moments of the episode, episode 8 was a total throwaway in the build to the season finale, with nothing of consequence happening, so why not just wrap it all into one colossal 3+ hour season finale? As for the final two episodes themselves… {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW}Were the last two episodes really bad or was it just me? Both episodes felt like they padded the run times to the point of excess and, as has been my biggest complaint, Eleven was again the Poochie of the show, either being the topic of conversation when she’s not around or the savior when she is around.
Case in point: it’s difficult for any deaths to have any weight going forward after the Max “death” when Eleven can just come in and bring her back to life. So if a main character dies in season 5, I’ll just be waiting for Eleven to stroll in and save the day.
Season 5 really should only be like 4 episodes at most. It’s the town versus the Upside Down. That’s it, that’s what has been established. We don’t need 10 hour-long episodes to tell the story — it’s a fight for survival and there doesn’t need to be extended exposition like we saw in episodes 8 and 9 of S4.
Overall, I liked the season — but if I’m ranking the seasons from best to worst, it goes: 1, 3, 2, 4. Honestly, I suspect that the success of Disney+ and HBOMax will prompt Netflix to break up their seasons more in the future. I can’t be the only one that got more hyped to catch every new episode, then watch reaction videos, then take part in weekly discussions. That had to help promote their shows in a way binging cannot.

I can’t be the only one that got more hyped to catch every new episode, then watch reaction videos, then take part in weekly discussions. That had to help promote their shows in a way binging cannot. I still think there's an appeal of dropping something all the way but I also think you have to pick and choose which ones make sense to do. Grace and Frankie makes sense to do it with because it's less of a high stakes show and, as someone who looked forward to the last season, can watch it at their leisure without being majorly spoiled. Disney does it with the short shows, like I think the Cars show will drop all its episodes on Disney+ day because it's something the kids can watch all the way through and have fun, same with the Mickey Mouse stuff. I'll agree that stuff like Stranger Things and Umbrella Academy are the stuff that would be made more anticipated watching weekly. You're not trying to figure out the best time to watch and anticipating spoilergeddon if it's at a set date every week.
