Recently touched on in the Ultimate Warrior Dark Side of the Ring episode was the warrior vs Jake feud that never saw the light of day. The three piece vignettes that would have sparked the feud is all we got. What more could be expected? Would it simply have been warrior beating Jake in a series of house shows? Or would there have been more storyline development and Saturday nights main event and/or ppv matches?
It seems the savage feud picked up where the warrior feud left off. I was surprised as a kid that the vignettes happened before summerslam and then Jake was not at summerslam at all. The wedding reception bit with savage happened immediately after. If warrior stayed, how would it have gone down? Would warrior have been cobra bit on TV instead? Would the savage-roberts feud have taken place or been pushed to closer to wm 8?
Would real life animosity have hindered the feud? Roberts was clearly bothered by warriors vanity and unprofessional behavior.

I imagine a storyline where warrior and savage would have to bury the hatchet and team up to take on Jake and the undertaker, leaving Flair to fued with Hogan during the later half of 1991. Perhaps Did would debut as a heel to balance out the bad guy side.

It'd honestly probably have been a more interesting feud than the extremely one-sided Jake/Savage one was, because while Warrior would still win all the matches, it'd be really interesting to see how Jake pulled the mind games on Warrior up until then. It was a kind of feud Warrior had never really been in before, and might have taken him interesting places (and Warrior sold being buried alive enough that I think he also would have sold other mind game tricks by Jake).

The one I always wanted to see was Hogan v Jake for the title. The unstoppable force vs the unbeatable finisher.

I’m not sure. I think Warrior vs Jake could’ve been even more one sided. After those vignettes, they had enough heat to probably start having Warrior beating him on the House Shows. I highly doubt Warrior would’ve gotten shoot bitten by the snake or taken the Tuesday in Texas beating like Savage did. It probably would’ve been a lot like Warrior vs Papa Shango: we’ve established this guy as pretty scary. Now let’s have Warrior give him an endless barrage of clotheslines and flying shoulder blocks until people lose interest.

Jake realizes he can't beat guys like Warrior or Hogan, so he opts to embrace the dark-arts for an advantage. Papa Shango is introduced as his shaman, going through vignettes of Jake embracing the serpent. And THEN Warrior no-sells a DDT and squashes Jake in under 10.

Conjecture, but I feel Warrior Vs Jake (or Undertaker) could have been slated for Summerslam, but when they decided to go with the Match Made in Hell that left both Jake and Taker off the card. Which is a shame.

I never liked the idea of Jake vs Warrior being the main feud post Summerslam.
Undertaker should have been the long game, on TV and houseshows as he was the kind of opponent the Ultimate Warrior needed to develop as a character, because the Warrior's power was neutralized by a zombie that feels no pain.
Jake would have been great in a supporting role to antagonize Warrior.

I always thought taker should have been slaughters partner at summerslam 91 thus continuing the warrior feud and then you could have Jake do the run in at the wedding reception then possibly have warrior and savage team up against taker and Jake

And the Iraq War was over at that point so it was far less relevant. The drawback to taker or roberts being the partner is the loss. Wanted to keep both looking strong for runs following this.

I find it weird that in 92 the Warrior and the Undertaker were teaming up on the house show circuit, and they never formally buried the hatchet.

Now let’s have Warrior give him an endless barrage of clotheslines and flying shoulder blocks until people lose interest. I mainly base this on how Warrior had already gone places that were unusual for his character in deciding that he needed help and seeking out Jake in the first place. He also was definitely intimidated by the snakes in the Coffin Room. That suggests to me that Warrior was actually willing to show off some mental vulnerability in his feud with Taker and Jake. So while it could've devolved into typical Warrior squashes, there was at least the chance it might actually have been interesting and unique for a Warrior feud. Plus, bluntly, Jake was a much better wrestler and character, and with more clout, than Papa Shango. (Jake was really cursed during this run, tho. Set up for a big push as the foil for Warrior, then Warrior gets fired. Set up to be the first big feud with Sid Justice, Justice gets injured. They had to unretire Savage to give him someone to fight, which makes me wonder if that even would have happened so soon otherwise.)

Roberts really got screwed a lot of times in his WWF run. Hogan, Warrior, Sid, I completely understand why he left for WCW in 1992 after everything he went through in '91. He was a massive star for them and really never got that main event feud outside of Andre and Savage. Obviously he had issues, but he was super over as both a face and a heel and had a household name just like Hogan, Andre and Savage.

It's actually amazing that someone who was as big a deal and had the longevity of Jake never won a title in either major promotion, even with the caveats of how titles were a bigger deal then and that his character could get heat without one. It would've been interesting to see the Jake IC title run he was originally slated to get.
