WWF would have botched it.

Several years back, someone posed the idea of Sting being the one to answer Yoko's challenge on the USS Intrepid and I loved it. That was me and I still stand by that. Especially if Sting arrived dressed like this: Would have been believable too as prior to that he was able to slam Vader, who wasn't that much smaller than Yoko. See... this would've made sense for the Challenge. And then after he's done with Yokozuna, his first WWF title defense after Summerslam is against Lex Luger at Survivor Series 1994. I say they still do build Bret up. He still wins the Rumble. Wrestlemania X it's still Bret vs. Owen first. But the main event is Bret vs. Sting with Bret going over. They want to kinda put Sting in his place at the time. Then he just hangs around the mid-card the rest of the way.

Imagine if we got Crow Sting in WWF during the Attitude Era and we got something like him and Mankind vs. Undertaker and Kane. Oh baby!

Thinking about this though, there are two things I wonder with this plan (one referencing what I bolded). 1)Why would they have Bret do double duty? For the timeline we have it makes sense with the double Rumble winner and coin flip deal. If it's not still Luger being a co-winner, then why would Bret need the second match when he's got the shot at Sting for the title (which would be a long reign for Sting looking at it, but that's neither here nor there) 2)Where would The Undertaker fit into all of this? Would he still fight Yokozuna, albeit with the stakes lowered since the title wasn't on the line? For that matter, where would Yoko be by Mania X?

Would they have let him come in as Sting, though? Back then, while it did happen to some people, WWF wasn't AS change-happy with guys coming from competition. Steiners, Flair, Luger all got to keep their names when they came over, and while I wasn't watching at the time I would think, even ignoring Luger's appearance on that Superboy show, Sting would have been a bigger than Luger at the time. I could be wrong on that admittedly, but either way I could see him keeping the Sting name in WWF (especially if what I heard is true that the singer actually pays the wrestler a small royalty of some sort to use the name Sting). I believe it’s $1 a year.

Would he still fight Yokozuna, albeit with the stakes lowered since the title wasn't on the line? For that matter, where would Yoko be by Mania X? 1. Owen would be the runner-up or co-winner to add more drama to Hart vs. Hart at Wrestlemania. Luger is removed from the equation. 2. Undertaker was always going to be out during this time. Don't remember if it was injury or something else. The reason why Sting is moved down the card is that Vince would eventually lose interest in Sting. But he wanted his fresh acquisition to get the title early. Just like Flair. To test the waters. He would be in the exact same place on the card as Luger 1995 would be. Mid-card and a good hand. Yoko I think by 1994 already just becomes an special attraction. Maybe he takes on Macho Man perhaps at that year.

Sting joins forces with a new friend, and that guy would turn against him.

He'd be jobbed out to Vince's 'Homegrown' stars, and made to look like a complete joke... If he was even used at all.
Just like Harley Race, Vader, Scott Steiner, Goldberg (first run), and 2015 Sting.

Surfer Sting in New Generation WWF is an absolutely perfect fit. Surfer Sting managed to be wholesome and lame while still somehow being fun and tough at the same time, even then. The New Generation needed a LOT more of that.

Surfer Sting with neon attire in 93 WWF? A perfect fit. I can see him wrestling Bigelow, Borga, Ramon and not looking at all out of place.

This was one of the chapters in my wrestling book (oh look the link is my sig *cough* *cough*).
I actually looked at Sting arriving in various different time periods including the Hulkamania and attitude era. For the new generation, I reckoned Diesel's title reign wouldn't make the full year as Sting would possibly get a run and cut it down.
If he came in a few years earlier I could have seen him getting a run with the IC belt by beating Mr Perfect and possibly dropping it either back to perfect or later to Bret.

He probably wouldn't have gone crow Sting during the AE as no NWO to rebel against and fears it would overlap with The Undertaker's character (especially with Kane coming in and the Ministry storyline planned) so wonder what his AE character would have been like?
