Meh I remember it as another early 2000s Big Evil No Sell-fest. Unless I was really disillusioned with that version of Taker, and wasn't giving him any credit when he did do something right.

Probably my favorite ladder match. Jeff has two of my favorite ladder matches, against Taker and The triple threat with Zayn and Styles.

I mean you are pretty spot on with that assessment. I think it worked here though in that the story of the match is Jeff being outmatched but having a chance due to it being a ladder match.

I went into the match *knowing* there was absolutely no way Jeff was winning but I'll be damned if they didn't get me emotionally invested as hell by match end.
That's a textbook example of making someone a star in defeat and make no mistake about it, 'Taker MADE Hardy that night, or at least should have, but Jeff couldn't capitalize on it

Incredible. Textbook babyface stuff. Great action, great performances, great commentary. This is wrasslin’.

I know people love the "GOD AS MY WITNESS HE IS BROKEN IN HALF," but I think the climb the ladder call from JR is pretty underrated. I really, really wonder what would have happened if Jeff kept himself sober, I think he could have been a WWE Champ by 2004, maybe even getting a shot at things before Cena. Dude was OVER.

Jeff at his peak was SUPER OVER, arguably the most over babyface in the world over Cena For a man with a HOF career, it is crazy to think he left things on the table

He was like...the perfect face for that era from a pop culture standpoint. I'm glad he's sober, doing well and that he had a few shots, but man. What could have been.

If he was reliable he could have surpassed Cena as far as number one babyface in the company due to fan reception Cena would been the public face with the movie appearances and all that cause he had cross over appeal

Its fantastic, but I admit I laugh at Jeff Hardy saying "I'm still standing" and crying at the same time. Like, I get what they were going for but it came off comical to me, much like "I love you, I'm sorry."

Like, I get what they were going for but it came off comical to me, much like "I love you, I'm sorry." After he yells "I'm still standin'!!" Undertaker turns around and heads back to the ring and Jeff says ".....with help from the ropes I'm standin'". We used to laugh about that. Like Jeff is proclaiming he's ok and then when it looks like Taker is going to beat him up some more he's like let me backtrack - I'm standing with help from the ropes

For a man with a HOF career, it is crazy to think he left things on the table I always view Scott Hall the same way. Scott besides fighting his own demons, he just didn't have the ambition to want to be a top guy despite having the ability and look to do so Scott was fine with just looking at it as a job and making money. Without question, if he spoke up in WCW him and Nash would have traded the WCW a few times but by then he was getting drunk and being unreliable

was that the last relevant thing Jeff did in his initial run? I know he was around into 2003, but I can't remember him doing much of anything except for the tables match at Survivor Series

One of the best matches in Raw history.

He formed a tag team with RVD for TLC 4, joined the Dudleyz for the table match at SS. Later he replaced Test in the Jericho match at No Way Out and was fired shortly thereafter. He had been scheduled to appear in Baton Rouge to sign autographs when tickets went on sale for a show and was replaced with Stacey Keibler.

Jeff avoiding the Reign of Terror and coming back shortly after it ended probably helped him. By the time he came back, HHH was a baby face so that meant he began burying heels instead of faces. That opened the door for Jeff a bit. I think if Jeff had stayed clean in 2009-beyond and never went to TNA, that’s a better “what if”. Had he stayed clean in 2003, he would have been RVD part 2 on Raw while eating Pedigree’s on the regular.
