Unless the rumored match with Roman is gonna be his last, they need to have him rack up a big victory to keep his credibility in act. *imagine saying this a decade or so ago

Nah. Another part timer (or one timer) win is a no-no. Unless is against another part timer

Yes, because nothing says ‘Needs a big win to reestablish themselves’ quite like a 16-time world champion returning from Hollywood for a big blockbuster PPV title match.

I don't think he *needs* one, exactly, but it wouldn't hurt to have him work someone for a win or two, a mouthy heel or something like teaming with Edge against the Usos or something.

Do Cena and Edge v Reigns and Rollins as a big Smackdown main event on the road to Summerslam and have the faces win. Gives Cena his first big win in years and also gives Edge a bit of shine back after he presumably loses to Roman again at MITB.

He's John Cena. His accolades are all he needs. Legends don't need "big wins" after they've become icons.

Eh, just because people are tired of him winning doesn't mean he shouldn't win something if he's ultimately going to put some one over. I don't necessarily think he needs to come back but, if he does, he needs a little bit of shine beforehand.

Vince: Cena needs a big win eh? How about on the go-home show Cena and Roman are on a tag team together against the tag champs! Cena pins both tag champs at the same time and then stares at Roman as the camera fades to black!
Intern: Excellent idea sir! Here's your grape sno-cone.
Vince: Ah finally, the good shit

He’s gotta be careful not to fall into that Mick Foley/Chris Jericho trap of losing any semblance of being an attraction by only showing up to put people over. Hell, some would argue that’s already happened.

If memory serves, the ONLY PPV match Foley won post 2000 was against Carlito at a Taboo Tuesday.

If Cena returns, he can beat Lashley for the WWE title; or, at minimum, beat Lashley via DQ or countout Luger-style.
It won't feel like he's beating a youngster because Lashley's been around WWE for some time; it can push a Hurt Business angle forward (maybe MVP starts losing confidence in Lashley, or vice versa); it needn't end with the title changing hands. Finally, if Cena does come back for another run, it will help Raw's flagging ratings numbers _especially_ if he can throw some weight around booking-wise.
Let Roman take on some up-and-comer at Summerslam - let a face win MITB and challenge him with the briefcase.

Checks out: Which 5 young promising stars can do the job pronto? They have no "young" promising singles stars to have him face even if they wanted to. Almost all their male rosters are long established vets, the young guys they have like Otis,Dominic and Omos are firmly booked in the tag division. Boogs is 33 and rocking a look that doesn't scream young and Damien Priest turns 39 a month after SummerSlam. I'd say maybe Carrillo and Garza fall into promosing young stars, but given their background and this companies history the odds seem stacked against them.

With his film career picking up they'll be lucky yo get him for a non-wreatling appearance once in a blue moon.

Checks out: Which 5 young promising stars can do the job pronto? All the promising young dudes with any credibility are either in the tag division or in NXT except for Riddle and Damien Priest.

If memory serves, the ONLY PPV match Foley won post 2000 was against Carlito at a Taboo Tuesday. Foley lost every high profile match he ever had except when he won the title off The Rock due to Stone Cold returning and murdering DX and Shane McMahon with chair shots.
