I guess it truly is a Marathon and not a Sprint hm?
Yeah I imagine when the TV Dates are honored, NXT's going right back to Peacock... wouldn't even be shocked if it loses its second hour.
This whole downward spiral of NXT is... a sight to behold. Had a feeling it was coming at how bitter Hunter was on the conference call... he knew it was coming. That PC Visit was also very ominous by Vince even with the fluff PR that it "went well"
WWE not counting the titles anymore and outright embarrassing Kross on live TV while he walked out with the world title? That said it all. Frankly I won't be shocked if NXT sinking like this causes certain people to jump ship in time...

That is my biggest interest if they intend to scale it all the way back down to developmental..like does this mean the contracts scale down to developmental pay scale as well? does this make the current talent contracts become null and void which means current talent are given the option to stay with the company or leave. Yeah this could have some monstrous repurcussions. As it is, it seems like they want to be streamlining talent contracts and keeping people from making 'too much', and if Khan decides that they're spending too much money on a wrestling school to be signing people to big contracts from elsewhere, NXT could get rocked and stripped very quickly back into the mid-late '00s days where only a few indie guys taking massive pay cuts for the chance to make it in WWE have much prior experience. I expect that in the coming months we're going to see a lot of people cycled out of NXT by force, given half-assed and half-hearted main roster debuts with no plans, and shunted out of the company in more mass firings. It's going to be really ugly, and I wouldn't be surprised if we're looking at relatively current NXT Takeover cards in a year or two and seeing that 3/4 of the wrestlers are now out of the company. It makes me wonder if Finn showing up on the main roster again doesn't have something to do with this move. No more giving people main roster money to dick around in developmental. Yea the floodgates are gonna open depending on what happens with the talent contracts because I only spoke about it hypothetically that if such a situation occured and the talent was given the option to sign new deals or leave....because NXT is a literal gold mine in talent and every single f***ing company is gonna be chomping at every single bit. Cole Gargano Ciampa Io Sarray Franky/Taya Cameron Grimes HitRow Santos Escobar Pete Dunne Just those names alone hitting an open negotiating market would be insane.....the first 3 have made it clear they do not want to leave NXT so if their hand is forced someone like Ciampa is likely gonna be a man of his word and just retire before he ever allows himself to go the main roster....which would of course free him up for another company so.

Were the ratings even that skewed towards AEW? I never keep up with that stuff but I figured they would be pretty close I believe AEW won about 85% of the weeks in total viewers and all but one in the 18-49 demo. The total gap was usually around 50K-100K depending on the week. So that tended to be a little close. The 18-49 gap was usually pretty significant. Dynamite doubled them a decent amount of time.

Crazy situation. Guess we'll be seeing more big names on NXT in other companies by the end of this year after their main roster runs don't go well.

Impact, MLW, ROH, and other places would be more than happy to consider them, and based on what we've seen with Impact's recent deal, they may be willing to pony up some kind of dough. Not WWE money, but at least enough to give them a boost and return investments.

If Ember Moon suddenly turns up on Raw in the next week or two that'd certainly give that theory more credence.

Maybe not six figures, but easily enough to live on what with PWTs and all.
It's not the mid 00s anymore were an indy guy would work 3 shows a weekend and only make 400 dollars total.

Part of me wishes they'd just rip the bandaid off and just do what they're gonna do to NXT quickly. It's gonna be a very sad thing for WWE and wrestling as a whole but I'd rather get it over with rather than having them draw it out.

It would be the 'merciful' thing to do, but I imagine WWE is going to shed bursts of roster and elements off bit by bit over the course of a couple years. Accelerated and half-assed call-ups, roster sheddings, probably coaching staff cuts all happening in chunks consistent enough to leave people fearful for their futures, but not consistent enough to know when one is going to strike, so it's going to be a horrible surprise whenever something goes down. There won't be any overnight change, but the kind of bloodletting that in retrospect you'll be able to see if you watch it back, like people do nowadays with WCW.

What people find a show that people seem to like? Better cut that shit out right away >_> But what specifically does going back to developmental have to do with enjoying the show? Couldn't it be argued that NXT was at its peak when it was developmental?

If it's like the business whittling down I've seen firsthand, it'll definitely be like that, cutting it down chunk by chunk as the morale levels are split between "bitterly just doing this for the payday until inevitably cut with one of these departments getting sliced out of here" to "The meeting with Vince went really well, there was no bloodletting of any sort. " to the depressing, drawn out end.
