Holy shit. That's very unexpected. RIP, Joey.

That really sucks. Got to see them live several years ago and the band put on an awesome show. He would strap in and his drum kit would raise on a platform, spin around, and go on its side, to where he was basically playing on his back. Super cool.

Two of the three founders of Slipknot have passed away now.

Damn. I never cared for Slipknot but I respected the hell out of Joey's ability and showmanship. Dude was great.

Man, RIP
Thinking back to Slipknot being one of my first metal concerts so many years ago and seeing the guy’s drum platform raise up and spin around. Such a cool visual.

This one hurts. Most people never guess it, but Slipknot is a huge influence on my own music, and Joey was just such a perfect drummer for the time that they were breaking out. He inspired millions to pick up a pair of sticks or try to write that perfect song. His impact on modern metal music can't be overstated.
Rest in peace, #1.

Between Slipknot and Murderdolls, he wrote and performed some amazing music. RIP Joey

Beyond The Valley of the Murderdolls is one of my favourite albums. A soundtrack to my teenage years.
RIP.

Really bummed to hear this. Saw Slipknot live during the Subliminal Verses World Tour in 2005.

That's a real shame. Slipknot played a huge role in my teenage years, and Joey's drums always stood out as something special.

Wow, this hurts a bit and scares the hell out of me. My wife was diagnosed with MS last year, although not transverse myelitis(sp?)
Slipknot came along during my formative years into metal, so I'll always have a soft spot for them.
RIP

A fantastic musician. Amazing talent. Heard about him having medical issues but thought he had recovered.
Rest in peace, sir.

Probably my favourite band and I’ve been lucky enough to see Slipknot live 3 times. Joey will be missed by everyone in the metal community. One of the best drummers ever in my eyes. RIP.

Slipknot is awesome, but their first album is by far the best start to finish. And he was a major reason for that.
RIP to a great metal drummer.

Underrated drummer IMO. Probably didn’t get the credit he deserved because a lot of people looked at bands like Slipknot kind of like a gimmick.
Sad so young, hopefully this leads some people to discover their music and listen with a little less prejudice.

I was at the Download where he, along with others, filled in for an injured Las Ulrich. Incredible moment. RIP.
