“Sleeping Bag” is still a banger, IMO. Rest in rock heaven.

Were ZZ Top the longest continuously running band with the same members ever? Has to be over 50 years with the same three guys right ?

There were others who were close, but recent years have taken a lot of them out too - Rush and Golden Earring were both up there. I do think ZZ Top had everyone beat

If we're talking about the original members staying in the band, notwithstanding touring musicians joining and leaving, etc...I think Aerosmith would probably be in the conversation too. Really sad and unexpected. They were just working on a new album and accompanying tour, last I heard. Definitely one of the all time greatest American rock bands, and Dusty will not be forgotten.

Joe Perry left Aerosmjth for a couple albums.

They had the same line-up for the vast majority of their existence but I don’t think it was the original line-up?

Aside from both guitarists quitting for a few years/albums, Aerosmith started a year after ZZ Top, and didn't put their debut out until 73. The Billy, Dusty and Frank lineup was solidified within a few shows, and played every show together until Dusty had his guitar tech fill in due to a hip injury on this past Friday.

RIP to a true legend. I would think that's probably it for the band, as well. When you have the same three guys together for that long, it'd be tough as hell to replace one of them.

Wasn't Dusty Hill suppose to be Hank Hill's cousin who Hank didn't get along with?

RIP Damn, I still think of the 70s as 20 years ago, not 50 as it is

The first concert my wife and I went to was ZZ Top and we got to be in the pit, so they have a special place in our hearts. The thing that really impressed seeing them that close was how skilled they were as musicians even in their 70s. He will be missed.
