Where the hell are they going with this?
So he’s broke and pathetic now. Regardless of how it doesn’t make sense (don’t WWE still actually pay him? At least enough to afford another shirt?) So it gets to the point where he apologises to Kevin Owens, gets the only money he has stolen from him by Ziggler and Roode and then Owens steps in to help him. OK, I’m invested and keen to see this redemption storyline and the build up of Corbin, maybe with KO’s help.
But then next week he’s still broke, still pathetic but now jumping Balor and trying to steal his way into a title shot. So now he’s a piece of shit…but he’s desperate, still broke and unable to feed his family..do I really want to see Finn Balor kick the shit out of him?
What’s the end goal here? Has there ever been one?

He’s just pretending so that Khan doesn’t fire him because he makes too much money.

They're giving him his comeuppance for his actions the past 2-5 years. Which also turns into a Face turn as we build sympathy for him.
He's gonna be one hell of a babyface. 😍

They have a money storyline here but they won't do it.
Basically, have Corbin continue to get his ass kicked for weeks. He starts getting slobbier and slobbier. But the guys that are beating him start to feel sorry for him, they help him up, shake his hand after the match etc.
One week, Roman Reigns sees him backstage. Corbin says he needs help and food for his kids... Roman says, alright I'll help you out. Then he says "Here. This should help" and gives him a can of Dog Food, playing it back to last year when Corbin covered him in it. Roman calls him pathetic, tells him he's a bum and he needs to get out of his yard etc... At this point, the crowd are begging for Corbin to spark him out. Corbin eventually has enough and lashes out, kicks Romans ass, hits the End of Days and Boom, we have a brand new baby face challenger for Roman and an interesting storyline to boot.
This is where it should go. But it won't. They'll probably forget about all of this one week and that'll be the end of it.

I think the gimmick is a little deeper than any of us might want to admit; only, of course, it's with the darkest and most morally corruptive narrative possible.
Corbin is getting a comeuppance, yes; but how many of our friends and loved ones have had a hard go of things this past year and a half? How many of us are mourning? How many of us are jobless? How many of us having to choose between what the government(s) are offering for our suffering and what our employers or prospective employers are offering because we need to eat and to sleep safely _now_? What is being said when we're encouraged to boo and mock this character? What is creative pushing when we have Corbin so desperate for a way out that he would throw others underneath his feet while he tries to climb the bucket?
Is this Vince's idea of incorporating some "Two Minutes' Hate" BS into his product in order to reinforce certain bigger-world ideas? If it is, the best way to shoot it down might be either to be utterly silent or start chanting something like "Solidarity Forever" deliberately to hijack the show. Let's be honest here - this storyline is moving into cringe territory and it's a) not entirely translatable to international audiences and b) very likely to backfire on Vince as things open up and the live events don't sell.

I think it's mostly just silly "comic relief". Look how scruffy he is!

WWE booking is so haphazard that it's entirely believable to me that they were going for a babyface turn then scrapped the whole thing at the last minute.
I was expecting the face turn but live crowds just aren't buying it. 2 weeks ago he was booed out of the building in that segment with Owens even before he started acting like a dick towards him. And this week he was getting you suck chants even before attacking Balor or turning down Cena's money. It's like fans want to see him suffer longer for all the boredom he put them through over the past 2-3 years before they will even consider forgiving him.

As much as I think this could turn into Corbin being a mega face if it was done correctly, I fully believe this is just Vince getting his rocks off at laughing at poor people.

The end goal is keeping Baron Corbin on tv while also having no idea what to do with him. Like 95% of the roster right now.

No storyline with a wrestler going “broke” has ever been good. The Big Show and HBK storylines were terrible.

I dunno. How do you make him credible again? He said his wife and kids left him, because he couldn't "perform" any more.
