Honestly. Seems like the best option for him. I really don’t see him working on the main roster. Not even in a “Vince sucks and doesn’t book NXT call ups right” thing. Dude just isn’t a fit.

The main roster has also really beefed up recently in terms of size. They've always featured bigger guys than NXT but it has become a lot more pronounced now and that puts guys like Cole at a significant disadvantage.

WWE is basically Real Madrid or SNL or the MCU or Apple or anything else that’s made the most money in its respective medium by using the talents they have and either fitting them together or moulding them to their style. There’s nothing wrong with that in a broad sense but trying to act like you’re a Mom and Pop operation that grew from the garage is just a weird route to try especially when some of the garage based stories have caveats like “My parents gave me $100,000 to kickstart the business” or whatever. In his case, I think people sometimes overstate the advantage Vince had to begin with, but mostly since they focus on the wrong part. Vince did have to buy WWF (even if the reason he had the money to do it was his father letting him promote shows in Maine or otherwise giving him opportunities. Granted, VJM got the business for his father before him, too...), but his biggest benefit was getting easily the most lucrative territory for infrastructure, something that essentially meant Jim Crockett could never have won unless Vince somehow botched that part of it. Either way, it wasn't rags to riches for the WWF. More like... pretty nice guest towels to riches. Yeah, the situation is different and it was a case of others having the same perks and likely trying the same strategy but he’s on the lower end of the scale compared to, say, Jeff Bezos or Steve Jobs or Mark Zuckerberg that had more advantages than, like, most humans would.

I think for him personally AEW makes a lot more sense given his girlfriend and friends are there. I tend to think he might make it further up the card in NXT/WWE than he will in AEW given their stacked top of the card but he might be happy being in the mid to upper mid card there.
It’s also pretty crazy that he could seemingly be on the NXT Takeover on August 22nd and then debut at All Out two weeks later.

Yeah, I honestly can't even think of what he'd do on the main roster currently if they did call him up. Maybe feud with someone like Nakamura, maybe? His character doesn't really have a place anywhere as it is.

Yeah, it's one of the reasons why I thought they would have done everything to keep him under contract because those are the sort of scenarios they've dodged before. As far as I know, they just did it with Cesaro when his contract was nearly up. Like, the fact it's not guaranteed he'll stay right now is...it's kind of crazy.

Cole has done everything he could in NxT if he stays there hes just spinning the wheel right now. I think him going to the main roster or going elsewhere is a good fit

I do think Cole ultimately ends up resigning with WWE for a lot of money.
BUT
The allure of more creative freedom, his best friends, and Britt Baker are all very temping for Cole and I also wouldn't be shocked if he puts KOR over at Takeover and heads to AEW.
Either way between this, not knowing if it was Murphy or Black that had a 30 day clause, and a few other minor things it seems like talent relations is a mess

I’d love to see him in AEW. Even if some people say he’d be yet another ex WWE, he barely ever made it to the main roster except for a few matches. He certainly fits the AEW mold, has his friends and his girlfriend there. I don’t know where you put him on the card but I think it Adam Cole is available and he wants to come in, I’d take it.

All I'm going to say is I laugh at the thought that he should go to AEW because "his friends are there", as if he has no friends at all in WWE.

That obviously does matter. Of course, they're probably both rational human beings in a healthy relationship who will support each other regardless. But what do I know?

I think there are things aside from Britt and his buddies that are appealing to Cole. Hell he was in KOR's wedding party so yeah its not just that. I think more freedom creatively is appealing and just more stuff to do. I think he will resign for a huge deal with WWE personally, and with the promise of being moved to main roster, but I don't think staying at NXT is that appealing to him

WWE is treating all their talent as expendable not realizing the gold mine they have if they utilized them properly. WWE’s overconfidence as a brand could very well be the push AEW desperately needs, but they have to not fumble it either.

I think it's amusing that there was the whole "THAT'S ADAM COLE'S GIRLFRIEND!" meme and yet so many people misremember them as being currently married and not just still dating. Which, it's not like it's relevant to any of our lives, just is kind of funny.
But yeah, Cole's got friends in basically every major company right now. Obviously, AEW has a lot of his closest friendships, but he seems like a pretty popular and well-liked guy.

All I'm saying is the "His friends are in AEW" is a load, because he DOES have friends in WWE as well.

I feel like if I want Cole to wind up anywhere it's ROH, honestly.

I feel like if I want Cole to wind up anywhere it's ROH, honestly. Obviously, he'd do well there, but it might be a bit of a risk of a Jay Lethal situation. I rate Cole over Lethal any day, but both are situations where Cole kinda did everything in ROH already. At least there are new faces around like RUSH and Gresham, sure, but still, might be a bit of a repeat.

I’d imagine HHH is going to try and get him to stay because, well, he’s still a draw to NXT if we’re going by quarters and the like but he’d have to do a lot of convincing because he wouldn’t be the first talent to re-sign and then get burned. Like, in between Kross’ call-up (with the belt) starting on the wrong foot, to put it lightly, the recent slew of releases and Vince joking publicly that he should do more…yeah, talent relations have their work going for them. Who knows if HHH is a team player right now? With NXT not doing well and Khan getting more power than him, HHH may have checked out.
